I heard about this new Vietnamese place and decided to try it for lunch. I looked online and decided to order for pick up through Skip the Dishes. That turned out to be a good idea as there were 20 people in line when I arrived.The order process using Skip worked well. When I arrived my order was waiting on the counter. I had the pork belly baoger. It was excellent. Fresh steamed bun and he pickled vegetables were refreshing. The pork belly was a good sized portion and cooked nicely. So this is a two part review. The first was a lunch for my birthday with coworkers, the second was a pick up to bring home:1. We ordered ahead, and reserved a table because we were expecting at least 8 people. Nice atmosphere, warm and was shabby chic in decor. Absolutely NO service to speak of. Even after the food came out an hour after we ordered, we were STILL never served water, never asked what we wanted, or was checked up on to see if everything was ok.Vermicelli noodle bowl was awesome, really fresh herbs and sprouts to offset the salt. Went here for a quick dinner during the week. Had heard good things so was excited to try it. Had the BBQ chicken banh mi and chicken salad rolls. The banh mi had great flavor and was over all tasty. Only issue for me was the chicken had lots of fat and cartilage pieces in it which wasn't appetizing. They forgot about our rolls, there was only 1 other table at the time which had all their food, our sandwich was almost done so I went to ask about the rolls. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and were shocked to see that the restaurant wasn't very busy. Monday-Friday probably gets busier as the restaurant is directly across the street from UW. Everything on the menu sounded great so we really had a hard time choosing what to have. I had a pork belly baoger and my partner had the pork steak with rice. We had shrimp salad rolls to start. AWESOME choices. The pork steak was perfectly cooked and was beyond tasty! The Baoger was so good I would have it again in a heartbeat. Some of the best pork belly I have ever had. We travelled to Winnipeg last week and we stayed in the hotel near this restaurant so we came there. First impression is the modern decor. And then when we ordered Pho and Banh mi, it looked amazing and it tasted fabulous too. Moreover, the staff were so friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant to all of you.
We stopped for a quick lunch, and was very pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and food was plentiful, I had a salad and my daughter had a noodle bowl (with enough for leafy-overs to take home). I work downtown and plan to visit again soon.
I had birthday party there with my friends yesterday, we all had a good time! foods served there were AMAZING! and I even go back today to have a lunch. Curry chicken and stew beef rice are highly recommand!
