I reserved a table on OpenTable for 2pm and was messaged at 1:20p that my table was ready. When i arrived at 2pm, there was a sign on the counter that said there was an automatic mandatory 20% surcharge added to the ticket and that gratuity was not necessary. When i asked the host about this she said she didn't have any interest in it so she didn't know about it but to ask the server when we sat at our table. There were a total of 10 people in the restaurant when we sat down. We were told that no one else was coming to our table unless there was a walk in. I asked the server about the 20% gratuity and she just said it was added on the bill automatically. When the chef arrived, it was busines...
Went for dinner last night. Surprised to see the sign on the door, announcing the 20% service charge. This does not go to the staff. Over and above the price of your food and tip. But I look at it as I ended up being forced to tip 40%. Not cool. Another group was seated near us a few minutes after we were seated. Their chef came first. We were given salad and soup with one round of beverages and then sat for 40 minutes. Brought it to the hostess attention and she did not care.in all fairness, the food was very good. But probably I will not go there again. I can afford to pay the extra 20% but I don't think it's right. Not a good use of my money.
I have been here many times but this time it seemed pretty run down. The first table we sat at had a leak dripping on us from the ceiling. When I went to the restroom I walked by a room and saw flies flying around. It was pretty gross. They then brought us to a new table in a room that was extremely cold. We were all wearing our coats. Someone in our party ordered sushi as their entree and it never came, we ended up cancelling it since the rest of us were done eating. For the cost of this place you should be treated like a fine dining restaurant. I think Benihana can do a lot better than this.
Had an 8:30pm “reservation” with my 10 year old to celebrate her doing so well on her school tests only to be told after an hour of waiting that “it’s gonna be a little longer we are short staffed and really busy”. Then the manager comes over and says “if you stay we can give you 40% off”….no estimated time of a chef or anything just that… I take my daughter here weekly being its her favorite spot and now at 9:42pm I have to figure out what to feed my daughter after sitting in this establishment, drinking miso soup and staring at strangers for over an hour?…I’ll never go back there again. The more we go back the more I feel the food is getting worse. Maybe lack of training to some of these new cooks but they can't seem to get a steak right to save their lives. This last time the cook left the fried rice on the grill too long so there was crunchy pieces of fried rice. My friends ordered medium rare steaks and they were more medium well. The cook didn't really speak English so they didn't understand what we were saying. They always take 2 hours to cook. Benihana is over rated anyways. We only go because we get birthday coupons. Osaka is way better!
The service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive. The chef was entertaining and cooked well. We have not been to this location for years, and we were pleasantly surprised how good it was. They even printed out our picture and put it in a Benihana paper frame, which our usual location does not do anymore. Lots of yummy leftovers to be enjoyed the next day!
Everything was good for a lunch time seating. Good food and an entertaining cook. The only negative was that my companion upgraded her steak and we both heard $3, but it was $7 on the bill. The server didn't seem willing to adjust it. Not enough to make a fuss over. A good experience!
Having a meal at the hibachi grill tables is always a blast!Wheelchair accessibility: In Golden Valley there are two handicap parking spots and a mild curb ramp to get to the front door. First time there got seated immediately with other people wasn't use to this accommodation but it was a great experience with the other couples at same table food was great and chef was astonishing at table making our food
