We are locals, but for some reason we haven't visited Benny 's for several years. As we walk a Saturday in downtown, we noticed that they were open for lunch. We honestly had no idea they were at noon on Saturday, so we went in and were not disappointed. The special was a beef paste that was raised by your traditional (i.e. hard) pasty. Really good! My husband had a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich and delicious tomato soup. The young server was so nice; she apologised to be busy, but we were not disturbed at all (her service was actually great) and we were glad that the business was strong. Had a really good dinner. Staff was amazing despite owner being called away, new exec sous and being slammed on a Wednesday night. Appetizer special chicken roulade, tasty albeit a tad dry. I had the petite ribeye with grilled asparagus and smashed potatoestender juicy and flavorful, delish! Friend had Caesar with salmon. Cooked to perfection. Nikki our server was great. Friendly, professional and kept us apprised of the progress of our meal. (Again, new kitchen staff and a busy midweek service. decor is a little worn and dated but who cares.
