We checked out Big Dad’s Pies a couple of weeks ago when we were in the Helensvale area visiting friends of ours. The pies were very good, I really enjoyed the lamb and rosemary one and a spinach feta pastry, my brothers had an assortment of pies including a curry one which smelled really good (and tasted good too according to my older brother). Friendly service, nice hot pies and very affordable as well. We hadn’t heard about Big Dad’s pies until we went by this one but we hear it’s a chain so if we see another along our drive around Australia, we will check it out.
On the go while heading through the area, we needed something quick and filling and this was all there was. Definitely no regrets in stopping in though! A good range of flavours, a few options for vegetarians as well, and the pies were BIG pies with good pastry, the kind that doesn't crumble and fall all down your shirt as you eat. Good pricing too, good to know it's there, we would visit again.
Nice friendly pie shop making well proportioned pies. Missed out on a potato pie, but were able to accommodate with piped mashed potato on a regular pie. Filling was good as was topping. I prefer slightly soggy pastry so these pies are good. Will be back again... The sausage rolls look nice for next visit.

I have been a lover of pies ever since I was a little fella, but I must say that this place serves a really good sized pie with great flavour and texture to the pastry.If you are in the area and looking for a good pie then go no further then Big Dads.Will be back
I'll make this brief - I do not recommend this restaurant. However, it may be unfair for me to judge based on my one-star rating, so I suggest trying a pie yourself and forming your own opinion.
These guys do a LOT of pies, with some different options and mushy peas. The lady behind the counter was friendly, helpful and patient while I figured out what I wanted. She could talk too!
Excellent selection of pies and sausage rolls. Always taste fantastic and the staff and friendly and efficient. Always love stopping in when in need of a quick yummy bite!
