We 've been coming to the Bilmar since 1987 and it 's a shame that this will be our final visit.Of course nowhere will stay the same in all that time, but we were so disappointed with how much it has changed.The on site restaurant used to be amazing, the food was incredible and the service was happy and friendly. The seaside bar was great, serving food and drink all day, now it doesn 't open until 4pm and was closed due to private functions for most of our stay.The hotel seems to have a weird split, the side with Waves has a nicer chilled vibe, and would be great had the bar been open enough to enjoy it. And then the tower side with Sloppy Joe’s is clearly aimed at a louder more abrasive aud...
first visit here in a while. The location is great, the beach is fabulous. Its an old hotel, but adequate. Not great, but it is at a matching price rate. BUT,1. They charge a resort fee and it is NOT included in their published rates double check. We prepaid the room and then got a big $80 surprise upon check in. The manager, Clyde, was set on that it is the customers job to haggle with the reservation site over the issue and he was not nice about it. So if you like having to argue with the front desk, call the 800 number and going thru their voicemail, to complain about the dispute sure, stay here. Other hotels have just taken care of these kinds of issues, not made the vacationer manage it...
I wanted to leave a review for this hotel as I had stayed here after loosing my home in a hurricane in 2017. They were accommodating to work with my situation despite all the red tape required paperwork with FEMA. They have made new renovations on the property and haven't been able to afford to come back and stay there due to my financial losses. However when I did stop in to check on prices Viola was working the front desk and was very professional, helpful and efficient at assisting me with future accomodations. We stayed 2 nights, November 1,2. (Not the busy season) Our room was clean, didn’t have any funky smells like our last hotel, and we had a patio with ocean view. The room has a refrigerator, range top, microwave, full sized coffee maker, dishes, and sink.Don’t come to this area if you want quiet. The whole area is about music and other activities. We sat on our patio and listened to the live music coming from Sloopy Joe’s restaurant. Went across the street and listened to more live music at Ricky T’s. Housekeeping did not come for two days in a row. One night, we returned late and found the Sloppy Joe's bar was so crowded that we were told to park across the street. I believe hotel guests should be allowed to park in the hotel parking lot, while bar patrons should use the parking available across the street.
Despite some complications with our reservation and a bit of confusion at the front desk, we had an enjoyable stay. There may be some improvements needed in our room, but overall, it was a worthwhile experience. The location is excellent, with plenty of dining and drinking options nearby.
Excellent location and friendly staff. I had read numerous reviews praising the cleanliness before our visit, but unfortunately, our room had some dirt in the corners and under the bed.
