Came in for my 30th Birthday this evening. The hostess was beyond lovely. She made us feel like we had known her for years. An overwhelmingly beautiful skill that made our night that much more eventful. The food was honestly the most delicious meal I think I have ever had. The duck was cooked to perfection, soft and moist with the perfect seasoning, the mash packed a boatload of flavour and the veggies that accompanied were cooked exactly as they should be. The killer was the berry sauce. Talk about taking a meal to a new level of delicious. I literally would have licked the plate had no one been looking. My date had the fish of the day. We've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Excellent food and a decent wine selection. Some favourite meals on the menu as well as interesting specials every time. It's a very intimate little restaurant that seems very well managed. The service is usually spot on altho' new servers are less accomplished. For example, the specials as described to us didn't have the same detail as when described by the other server. (No worries, we heard it described table beside us without any trouble! Stands up well to anything Ottawa has to offer. We'll return and will continue to recommend it to our friends.
My husband and I ended up at the Black Tartan for our 9th anniversary last night upon recommendation of a friend. I cannot say enough good things about it. Upon arrival I had a white rose waiting and a complimentary glass of bubbly for both of us. It happened to be 'date night ' at the restaurant so they have a special sharing menu. We ordered the escargot for our app (to die for, best I ever had) I had the rainbow trout and my husband had the steak. A feast for the eyes and palate. Finished it off with classic creme brulé. Soo good. Great service and delicious food. Will definitely return.
Brought my wife for diner. She had a carrot soup and I had a salad to start. Both were amazing. Followed by a 10 ounce rib eye steak. It was the best steak I have ever tastes. This includes the ones I make for myself. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very jovial, love the historical pictures of CP. Our waitress was very nice, her service was spot on. All in all a lovely diner my wife will remember. And we definitely plan on being back. I have my eye on the duck and rabbit. A big thank you to chef Ian and crew for making a memorable evening. My husband surprised me with a lovely lunch at the Black Tartan Kitchen today. Our food was fresh and savoury and we very much enjoyed our meal. We look forward to returning for the tasting menu with wine pairings served on weekends. This resto is very pleasing to the eye with its modern vibe and added touch of Carleton Place history on its walls.
The Black Tartan is truly a gem in the heart of Carleton Place! The food, wine, staff and atmosphere are amazing! My husband and I had the Charcuterie Board, seared duck breast, beef tenderloin, wine and creme brûlée, chocolate for dessert We highly recommended this classy restaurant
This is an exceptional restaurant. Delicious food lovingly prepared and presented by chef Ian and his wonderful staff. We had a super birthday dinner last night. The highlight were the tenderloin and steak bavette! Succulent and perfectly pink!
Service was exceptional. I had the escargot, and it was the best I've ever had. Not swimming in garlic butter. The duck breast was amazing as well. The chef, owner came out to greet all the diners as well. I'll definitely be back Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We tried their new Blind Menu wine pairing last night. It was soooo good. Chef Ian created spectacular dishes and the wine pairing was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend you experience what this little gem has to offer!
