I am so sad to report that this is one of the worst culinary experiences of my life. While service was good, price isn't awful, the location is cute... the food was beyond terrible. Of all dishes our party ordered, only the pizza was edible....The chicken in an alfredo sauce was TOUGH, as if it was left over and microwaved too long, then tossed into the dish. The soup was so sweet and gingery that none of the flavours of the main ingredients were noticeable at all. I did also find a white hair in the soup. Worst of all, the dessert was one of the worst things I have ever tasted (hence we left with a bad taste in our mouth). The server suggested we try the s'more dessert... there was somethin...
We haven't been to Blacksmith's for a number of years but decided to try it for a change. It is not the same restaurant as in years past. The Caesar salad used to be memorable, it's very average now. The little garlic toast served on...the side of the salad was so stale that it wasn't edible.The pizza was no better than a frozen pizza you buy at a grocery store and I left with awful stomach cramps after.The restaurant has probably not been renovated in 20 years and the carpet is filthy. We will not be going back.The only positive aspect was the service, as the waitress was lovely.
the hotel is located on the main street in the heart of unionville with abundant near parking next to and behind restaurant. the main room is located in the second floor and is warm and welcoming. our caesar salads were beautiful fresh salad with a beautiful tasting caesar dressing....Our rigatoni bolognese were large dishes with perfectly cooked thick noodles with very nice tasting pieces lamb mixed with mushrooms in and with a little spicy taste. very good and not their standard rigatoni bolognese. server was very friendly, helpful and fast without feeling in a hurry.
Went here for Mother’s Day. Had the Blacksmith platter for an appetizer and then our group of three one had a pizza, one had the fish pasta and the other had the iron steak. The appetizer was a good selection of different types foods offered...which was good but not over the top. As for the entrees pizza was thin crust and was good. The pasta offered many types of fish and was enjoyable. The iron steak was cooked just the way it is ordered was very good. The service was very attentive and was not rushed. this place was a quick and easy stop for me, while in the city a event. I needed a little to eat and chose this place as I saw that they had bruschetta (a weak of me) on the menu. that said while the presentation of. the food was great it was bland, needed more garlic and seasoned safe. but the brot was good. I also got a seat quickly and the service was nice. my only other thing would be that it felt slightly melted and dirty (they needed to dust their windows, wash their curtains and some of the wood on the walls safely down.
This place has been around for over 20 years, and has been going down hill for the last few years. It used to be great, now is one of the worst culinary experiences of my life. Poor menu selections, and the menu needs a complete...do-over. The food is beyond terrible. Even the pizza was un-edible. My wife and I made up an emergency excuse to leave and not eat the food, but paid the bill. They should have picked up a clue when we did not want to take anything with us... The only thing still good is the oysters!
What a beautiful day sitting at the patio at this restaurant for lunch. We had the pizza and a steak sandwich. Food was good, service was excellent and location was excellent, even free live music nearby. Watching the expensive convertibles driving by. All and all...it was an exceptional experienced for a summer day and the price was very reasonable.
Monday night is a was quite night! Only 1 other set of people were there for dinner. Not a large menu to choice from,thou what is there was very good. Service was fast and friendly, steaks were done perfect, the red snapper was cooked just...right. Mussel bowl was filled to the top. bought family here and ordered a few items. it wasn't disappointed, but it didn't wake us. with beautiful weather the terrace of sidewalk was available. it's a more okay place, but it wasn't out. comparable to other bar and grills in the opposite with a somewhat fancier menu.
