It is half term week so the restaurants and pubs are understandably busy but must be aware it will be hectic and plan their staffing accordingly. However, we visited the Blue Anchor yesterday and it was very busy, We selected our lunch and checked with the waiting time with the waitress. 30 mins we were told. I ordered the soup of the day with artisan bread and my friend had a posh finger finger sandwich. The food arrived about 40mins later and I was presented with a sandwich. The waitress took it away to change it, which took about 5 mins. I then asked for butter when she returned. She brought this and I had to ask for a knife. It was half term and we were on Granddaughter minding duties. Sitting there we wondered where we could go for meal at lunch time. The Blue Anchor came to mind and how glad were we that it did. We were met at the door and shown to a vacant table, drinks orders were taken straight away and a menu given. There was a wide choice and between us fish Chips, the Tower Burger a Rack of Ribs. All three lunches were excellent especially the rack of ribs, the meat just fell of the bone. Good portions, excellent value for money. The girls serving did a great job looking after us, one thing I would say though is pre-book it does get very busy there which of course is a good sign! Great selection of beers...
I recently stayed at this restaurant after attending a birthday party there. The staff were very friendly and provided great service. The food was delicious. Just a heads up, breakfast is not included in the room rate, so you pay for what you order. Although this allows for more flexibility in choosing your meal, I was a bit surprised that coffee and tea were charged per cup at breakfast. Personally, I would have preferred a coffee pot or complimentary refills. It would be nice to have unlimited tea or coffee, especially after staying overnight. We stayed on a Sunday night and found that the entire pub was closed by 8.30pm. While we weren't looking for another drink, it would have been nice...
I recently went to this restaurant for afternoon tea and was disappointed. The scones were overcooked, the cakes were dry, and I had to wait around 20 minutes for my tea to be served. Some tables didn't receive any tea at all, as it seemed like the staff was more focused on serving the larger tables and giving them extra everything. One table even received four pots of tea while others received none. The only highlight of the day was the lady from Tiptree who shared the story behind their gin and vodka.

Very pleasant resturant with good service and food, prices are not too expensive and depending what you choose should be within most budgets, we have enjoyed quite a few of the options on the menu and always found them to be of a high quality, this resturant is not close to our home but we make a point of going out of our way to eat here. We have never felt the need to book and have always been able to get a table even if we have had to wait a short while even on a Sturday night.
Friendly staff all wearing masks. All Covid safety measures being taken, including individual sanitiser on each table. Large tables enable safe distancing. Food as always good with plenty of choice. The only place I would feel safe meeting up with friends.
This place is the best ever. It is in a pretty village called Feering. It has a very good car park opposite and can be get to by railway getting off at Kelvedon. The food is fantastic and the staff friendly and welcoming.

Brilliant food, locally sourced, friendly and attentive staff. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend and will definitely go again.
A really hospitable experience. The staff were truly courteous and accommodating. The meal was very good and great value.
