We were in Hobart for only 2 days and ate at Blue Eye twice...what does that tell you...great food and great service. First meal we had booked, had lots of time so it was cruisey. The staff were welcoming, happy and helpful and the food was fantastic as well as being exactly as described. Second time we only wanted something light (after a filling late lunch) so dropped in at peak time (approx 7pm Saturday night) and the staff were totally accomodating, advising that if we could do it in half an hour we were fine and checked with the kitchen that they could do our service within half an hour, and do it they did, quite happily. Some of the best seafood I've ever had - and I've eaten plenty of great seafood! We decided to have multiple entree plates and to share these ( rather than mains) - this worked out to be perfect for us. A great amount of food and every dish a taste sensation. The waitress gave good advice on matching some bubbles with our selection. Overall - a very good experience. I will definitely eat there again. Reasonably priced for the quality!
What can I add to all those other great reviews? Pleasant atmosphere in a great location, delicious fresh seafood served with style but simply so one can appreciate the quality and freshness of the product, good service in a laid back style - nothing over the top here except for the food itself, just excellent. Cannot wait for an excuse to return!
Blue Eye was recommended by a number of people we spoke to in Salamanca Place during the day and it lived up to expectations for our evening meal sans booking. I ate off the specials board with mussels in broth, pork belly & scallops, followed by tart all delicious. Wine list also offered plenty of choice. Very knowledgeable service. We went to Blue Eye to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday. The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming. The restaurant was packed, but we could still easily hear each other talk. We had entrees and mains and all of them were delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. A great experience.
Visited from interstate coincidently with friends who were in town at the same time. We all ordered from the seafood. The food was beautifully fresh and well presented. Our waiter was very helpful and very friendly and we couldn't have asked for better. Highly recommended.
We are always a large group of 12 to 16 when we eat here and they cope with the group very well. The emphasis on local produce is enjoyed and a quite innovative use of flavours. Worth trying.
