I love Boiling Point! But this location was not it.2 weeks ago I came here with my boyfriend and I was so excited because I had just tried Boiling Point in Hacienda Heights for the first time and it was delicious! I would like to preface this with the fact that it was a weekday--a Tuesday afternoon so it was in fact not crowded or busy. There were like 2-3 other tables in the restaurant. They turned my fire super high and even my boyfriend was like woah I think the fire is really high. And I noticed too because my soup was evaporating very quickly and we tried to flag down the server multiple times but they wouldn't come. just want to Thank Jared and John and the rest of the staff for their awesome customer service on Tuesday May 2.They were quick to have us seated even thou the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday. This location is very popular so have some f patience. These guys work their a off. Not everything is fast food and is instant dopamine like Instagram. Jared was super kind and spot on to take our order. Jared was able to get drinks, vermicelli all in one go. Jared actually remembered my girl and I from a previous visit. This place serves truly authentic Taiwanese hotpot! I highly recommend it. The lunch prices are more affordable than those at dinner, and you also get a complimentary drink with your lunch meal. If you're not a fan of the smell of stinky tofu, I'd suggest steering clear of the house special hotpot. Personally, I enjoy stinky tofu, so I thought it was great! During weekend afternoons, the restaurant can get quite busy—I waited about half an hour for a table. However, there are plenty of nearby shops and supermarkets to explore while you wait. Plus, the plaza has ample parking available.
The service here was slow and inefficient. Even though the restaurant was "busy," we waited 40-50 minutes to be seated, and there were no utensils or dishes available for us when we finally got a table. Once we were seated, we realized that the service continued to lag. Although the staff were occupied, there was a noticeable lack of urgency, and one employee was even on their phone. Went here with a friend and it was very good! They were a little backed up on orders so we had to wait a bit, however the servers are so accommodating. They were able to move us to a warmer area. Not to mention they walked around refilled our broths and water without us asking. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because I felt like the wait was a little too long when it wasn't busy. They could've sat us down and told us the reason for the wait rather than had us stand around. We could've looked at the menu and drinks in the meantime
I went out for dinner with my friends and ordered a Korean bean paste hot pot. The flavor was great, but the soup was a bit too salty and very spicy. I specifically requested a mild spice level when I ordered, but when the dish arrived, it was more like medium or very spicy. I ended up with a runny nose after eating! This has happened to me several times—each time I order mild spicy food, it doesn't turn out as expected. I really hope they can improve on this. On a positive note, the service staff had a great attitude.
Went right when it opened on a Sunday, this place can get busy. I ordered the Korean Bean Paste Soup. You can choose your level of spiciness, I chose mild and it was perfect for me. Lots of stuff in this soup! Loved every bite and slurp! Also comes with a side of rice or vermicelli. Soup sits on a box with a flame under so your soup is boiling the entire time unless you ask the server to turn it off. It comes with a choice of green or black cold tea.
My place for comfort food. I eat at Boiling Point almost every week and the food is always consistent. I always get the beef hot soup in medium spicy level. I think this is the best one to get because it has a lot of variety in the soup and the flavor is amazing. Some people share one soup for two people but I always eat one by myself. Price went up a little compared to the last time I went, but I still need it regularly. I took my friend who had never been to the Boiling Point and he loved it too. Fun experience with your own pot and little fire. You can request extra broth too.Food: 5/5
