We stopped off at this establishment on spec. We went to reception and waited ............... The mature woman on the desk could plainly see us standing there but chose to ignore us. Eventually, when I realised that she wasn 't just finishing doing a task and that she was obviously deliberately ignoring us, I said excuse me to which she finally looked up. Unfortunately, our celebration was ruined at this restaurant. The staff were rude and inexperienced. We were a family of 7 with 2 kids, and we weren't asked about drinks and had to go to the bar ourselves. Our main meals took 1 hour to come after the starters, even though it was a quiet evening. We had to ask at the bar about our mains as the kids were getting fed up. When the mains finally arrived, the steak was overcooked, the mixed grills were tough and gristly, and the fish and chips were watery. For my 65th birthday the same day as our 41st wedding anniversary, we chose to stay quite close to home and go to Briar's Hall hotel where we have had several meals and attended other occasions in the past On booking I explained to Lauren that we were coming to stay the night and dine there. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite for the night Also Ritchie the barman was very friendly and helpful Overall we had a great experience and pleasant stay which made for a very enjoyable Birthday and wedding anniversary Highly recommended looking forward to our next visit

My wife Kath and I hadn't been to The Briars in quite some time, but we decided to go on Saturday, the 29th with two good friends. We were all impressed with the food and found the staff to be extremely helpful and polite. The Guinness was excellent and overall, it was a very enjoyable evening for all of us. We will definitely be visiting again soon. It was quite rare for all four of us to love both the food and drinks so much, but we were all pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend it.
Decided to pop in for an evening meal on a Thursday night. We were greeted by really friendly, polite staff, a credit to the establishment. They took good care of us and provided first class service. The food was delicious, we really enjoyed it. The restaurant was very quiet which we didn't mind, however we wonder whether it could be advertised more as our local community are missing a treat! We will definitely be visiting again recommending it to all our family friends!
I went to Briar Hall with a group of 20 people on Wednesday, December 14th for an afternoon party. The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff were excellent. However, I was extremely disappointed with the food. It was only lukewarm and seemed rushed, as nothing was cooked properly. The portion sizes were also small, not even enough for children let alone adults. We go on monthly trips but we definitely will not be returning to Briar Hall.
We were able to get a table at short notice on a busy Sunday evening. The food was really good value and the carvery was very tasty. The choice and amount of meats served for the price was great.

We went to the restaurant for a family occasion and the food and service was fantastic. The food was so tasty and I would definitely recommend a visit for something to eat.
