We visited the Brewhouse on a Tuesday evening for a family celebration – four adults and two children (aged 7 and 4). We were given the option of sitting in the main restaurant section or the adjacent lounge area, which we chose.<br/ <br/ Our waiter was friendly, attentive and understood the menu well, making great recommendations to suit our tastes. I have visited South Brisbane many times and often walked past this brewery hotel on the way to other restaurants and decided to have a closer look at the menu. The menu overall looked quite interesting and I was pleasantly surprised to notice not one, but two sides are provided free with your main meal.<br/ <br/ So I decided to go and didn 't make a reservation. When we arrived the restaurant area was fully booked with people waiting for tables, and we were advised that we could sit outside if there was any free tables there. Exceptional! I dined here last night and enjoyed a beef burger topped with cheese, jalapeños, and hot sauce—simple yet perfect. The patty was about an inch thick and cooked to perfection, medium-rare, and loaded with jalapeños. As a chili enthusiast, it was pure heaven. The staff was efficient and knowledgeable about the beers, and they kindly allowed me to order chili jam on the side with my fries. It’s the best chili jam around—I even have about five different varieties at home. Their sunset ale is delightful and easy to drink, appealing to everyone. Brewhouse is a delightful discovery. Based on the name alone, one might anticipate a menu focused on beer and steak, but instead, you'll encounter a wide-ranging selection filled with fascinating choices. We especially appreciate the ability to select your own sides when ordering their standard mains or steaks. Our only minor complaint is that they tend to go a bit overboard with the garnishes on the plates—five edible flowers may be a bit much, Chef! Our favorite dishes? I had a meal here recently with family and it was our first time there since the renovations and new Al Fresco garden setting was added. It is now a bit of an oasis, really nice in such a busy location. Love the fish pond, nice touch. Our meals were very good and with generous portions too. Even the house wine was good quality! I was impressed and will return!
Love the renovations and epic beer collection. Last time we were in was post German club/October fest. My super chicken burger so was delicious. The brioche bun was the icing on the cake to a delicious pub burger. It was huge, I ended up sharing and was the perfect accompaniment to the beers we had.
Recently has to spend a week in hospital and this place over the road was a god send. <br/ <br/ Not only does it do take-aways and growlers it has some seriosly good beers on tap. Whoever is selecting their beer range is doing well.<br/ <br/ The food was a let down so dropping one star off.
