I live about 30 minutes from Brobeck's so it's been a while since I've dined here. Since I was out that way I decided to stop in and grab a quart of Ham Salad...I asked the friendly staff if it froze well and he responded definitely not, but that it will store in the fridge for 7-10 days. I thought about it, decided on 2 quarts! I got home and immediately took a spoon to one, writing the expiration date on the other (because you know, there's no way we can go through that much). It's been less than 5 days, we're out! It's fantastic on anything! I made my son and I ham salad melts, obviously it's great on crackers and chips, and even by itself! I will say I figured out my favorite style last...
I discovered this restaurant while in town for a softball tournament and was impressed by the cozy family diner atmosphere in a bustling city. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The baby back ribs were delicious, and my daughter loved her smoked chicken sandwich with the flavorful sauce. The steak fries were crispy, the side salad was generous, and the cheesy corn was a standout dish that I had never tried before. Amazing BBQ! Had to try the Smoked Ham Salad Appetizer and it did not disappoint. It was so good with the Homemade Chips. Our group tried the Smoked Sausage, Sliced Brisket, Ribs, Turkey and Ham and they were all super good! The Ribs are Competition Quality Ribs! We also had the Baked Beans, Cheesy Corn and Mac and Cheese and they were all delicious. Tons of food per serving! You definitely won't go away from this place hungry! Great price and great service as well. If you want a good, real Barbecue place and not one of the overpriced chains, this is the place to go!
My wife and I went here for the first time for lunch. The reviews are correct. This is a must eat place. The staff are incredible. First, our waitress was there quickly, but that is just the beginning. We ordered and honestly, less than 2 minutes later our means were there. We ordered the BBQ luncheon platter Smokey Joe, with HOMEMADE CHIPS. Did I say homemade chips, yes and they are great. The food was wonderful, full of flavor and very filling. Our party of 10, in town for a baseball game, was easily seated together at this restaurant. There was no wait, and the service was fast. The menu offered a good variety of options, and the dishes were delicious with generous portions. We tried a range of items, all of which were fantastic. One unique aspect was that the items came dry and diners could add their own barbecue sauce. The prices were reasonable, and we would definitely return when in the area again.
Brobeck's is the best place in Kansas City for brisket. Their Smoked Ham Salad is absolutely amazing! After my appointment with the Cardiologist, I couldn't resist stopping by Brobeck's (shh, don't tell him!). A tip: make sure to grab some of their Smoked Ham Salad to take home. It's a perfect substitute for Canadian bacon on eggs benedict. If you haven't been to Brobeck's yet, make sure to put it on your Bucket List (before your next Cardiologist appointment!)
This restaurant serves really good BBQ and I have to rate it as one of my favorites in the area. The pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw was one of the best I have ever had and the portion of meat on the sandwich was huge. The burnt ends were also good. The waitress also mentioned they were known for their ham salad. I am not a ham lover but I did try a little bite and it was actually pretty tasty. Cannot wait to eat here again.
Stop here on a recommendation from a local , I had the Rays special 3 meat combo and 2 sides , it was the beans and cheesy corn both excellent . They even give you a choice a white or wheat bread . We try to eat here on each of our Kansas City visits. The food has always been amazing and you never have to wait long for your food. Our server was amazing and he was very knowledgeable, I'm sorry I didn't catch his name. We will definitely keep coming back.
