I had a few reservations about the hotel after reading some of the reviews, but they were not actually correct the hotel and staff are very welcomeing special thanks to bev nothing was too much trouble even printing off directions to places we wanted to go, lovely, quiet, peaceful, lovely views, breakfast was more than enough as much as you wanted not a full English but more than adequate to start the day off with and for those that think there's a pool they should probably read the information properly there is a pool but it's not in use at the moment but if in doubt ring first like we did, also the restaurant is not available at the moment but once again ring first as it might be operating...
We had a lovely stay here. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming from our original booking through to saying goodbye. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Fantastic position on the lake. The only reason I have given 4 stars is that there was not enough storage in the room. Not a bedside cabinet, nice but too contemporary from that point. They are doing renovations which is great to bring the decor back to how it was so some of the images are of the previous years, the breakfast room was very dark but we were lucky to have brekfast out by the lake. Also no outside lights when coming back in the evening. We will definitely return. Special mention to Bev and Hazel, thank you! Hotel highlight...
Breakfast was a continental spread with a wonderful selection of fresh rolls, pastries, cold meats, cheese, cereals, fresh juice, and hot beverages like tea and coffee. In the afternoon, there was a wedding, and the table settings were absolutely stunning against the backdrop of the lake. Everyone on the staff we encountered was friendly and very accommodating.
We would not hesitate to return to this charming location. Our stay was truly enjoyable, and Beverley really goes above and beyond to make your visit unforgettable. Overall, we rate the rooms, service, and location as 5 stars each!
Noteworthy details: We were a bunch of cyclists on a charity ride from John O’Groats to Lands End Nick managed to fit in an extra bed for us at short notice He even allowed us to convert the function room into a temporary cyclist garage!! What a fantastic company to deal with. Unfortunately, i had to cancel my booking due to personal reasons. However, from the very first contact to cancelling my booking, the staff were excellent.
