Tuesday is market day in Beaumes, so on Tuesdays get there by 9.30 and watch the world go by in search of tapenade, amazing fuit and veg, stunning cheeses, honey, eggs, olives etc. No croissants on offer at the cafe, but simply secure them in...advance from Muriel at the Boulangerie by the church and munch them under the shade of giant umbrellas while having coffee. Citron presse also excellent. On rainy days go inside and play tarot in a hugely friendly and informal environment.
for 11 Euro, a giant grilled Camembert on grilled french baguette on a bed of salad with 2 slices of crude ham.. a dessert (Tiramisu, Creme Caramel, etc) one coffee tea. for 13 Euro the main course is grilled beef, chicken,...lamb with dessert and hot drink. really great experience within a typical french cafe of a small village of Provence. Great place for simple and generous food at reasonable prices.
try diabolo framboise (or fraise) in the shadow of the old cardboard trees on the main (zinn) they pull the hill, through the fountain. they buy their croissants on the square through the church and take them with them to munch with them, as the regular collect about...coffee then play cards and while away a very pleasant couple of hours.
There were few places open for dinner on the night that we arrived, so by default we decided to eat at this cafe. I called for lunch with trip advisor. certainly lived up to expectations. very reasonable euro14 menu for main dish, dessert/cheese and 1/4 bottle wine. superb atmoshere
A village café like no other anymore. The cuisine is family style with excellent value for money. Timeless atmosphere which gives its soul to this place.
this is an excellent bar for a casual drink. it is very relaxed and has a good position in the city. that is worth eating too. the lunch is pretty good.
