We've been visiting this cafe for years, just having coffee or a drink under the trees in front of this old-France setting at the top of the hill, but never found the opportunity for a meal. A few weeks ago, enticed by the fresh ambiance created by the new owners, we decided to have lunch. The prices were comparatively low and perhaps that should have been a warning. After a promising home-made tapenade we endured an overcooked and stodgy lasagna and a virtually cheese-free (but crouton-full) salade de chevre chaud. The coffee was 'alright'. We didn't have the honor of trying the restaurant out. When we arrived, no one said hi, we had to wait for someone to pay attention at us for 10 minutes. After that, a lady from the restaurant told us, she doesn't have a free table (there were two free in front of us), I asked if we could eat outside, she said no. I gave it a last try and asked when she thinks we could get a table. We didn't mind waiting since the menu looked good. She said she had no idea and that we'd better go (!!!!). No apologies, not a smile or one nice word. French service at its highest level. To avoid.
if you are around this beautiful area (not far from Cannes, mandelieu), and you decide to go for a ride up the Tanneron, you should stop for lunch at this restaurant. The owner is doing the cooking and the wife, the service. The dish of the day is 10.5. € and is excellent (we have been there 4 times since and it is always a treat. A la carte main course is around the same price. Desserts are devine (tarte tartin, chocolate moelleux, etc). You should also try the chestnut sparkling wine, specialty of the region. Also the mimosa but not my cup of tea.
Christine and Michel the new owners have done a fantastic job by taking over this restaurant.Fresh products, good choices, dish of the day, and very competive prices. Very simple with a small menu to choose from, but can have a nice lunch for less than 10 Euros. Very friendly staff although struggling to wait on all tables when we went. Very pretty driving around the area too if you're not scared of heights!
We have visited this beautiful place a number of times with family, friend and just as a couple. The food is home cooked and amazing. We would thoroughly recommend taking a trip up the Tanneron mountain to this little gem
Cool friendly little restaurant tat serves tasty food. Go through the little bar for an amazing view from the terrace if it is not too hot!
