We used to frequent this restaurant often because of the great food and kid-friendly atmosphere, with quick and friendly staff making it a good value. However, our recent experience on Mother's Day was disappointing. When my wife arrived slightly before me, the manager watched her struggle with a pram and did not offer to help. Additionally, half of the menu items were already sold out by noon. When the food did arrive, my wife's medium steak was overcooked and solid. We enjoyed our meal at the restaurant, but were disappointed that we could not use a 25% off voucher that was given to us during a previous visit to Cafe Rouge in Newcastle. Our main reason for dining at the restaurant was to take advantage of the discount, so we left feeling frustrated. Despite the pleasant meal, we now feel less motivated to return in the future without the discount. It seems short-sighted of the restaurant to offer vouchers that cannot be used, as it can have a negative impact on customers' experiences. They suggested we could use the voucher another time, but we chose to tear it up and leave it on the table.
We booked a table for 3 people and only 2 of us were present when we first got to the restaurant. The waiter checked our reservation and then took us to a table for 2 people. Not a good start. The tables were so close to each other it didn't feel private and we felt shoehorned into a space. The restaurant was busy and noisey and it was difficult to hear conversation as a result. The food was delicious but it seemed rather expensive for the portions given. This meal was for a special occasion and we left rather disappointed.
I was very disappointed with my meal last Saturday lunchtime. I usually order boeuf bourginone and meat lovely tender and lean. This time there was an awful lot of fat which was very off putting and spoilt my meal. I mentioned this to our waitress at the time who didn't appear bothered at all that we were not happy. Will be a while before I visit the cheltenham branch again.

Booked online with open table. Friends birthday 60th get together pre Christmas. Arrived at 14.00 hours and no booking!! The manager very helpful and did get a table for us. Food ok. 4 bottles of wine between 6. Starters good. Platters nice. Mains just ok!! Puddings good. Overall experience was ok. Will return as cafe rouge is a very handy meeting place. Central Cheltenham.
Nice food but very pricey. Service started out well but once the waitress for our table left no-one seemed to want to take over! It wouldn't be my choice of restaurant but having been given a gift voucher, I didn't want to waste it.
Our first visit to Café Rouge for a while, taking advantage of the free bottle of Prosecco on my birthday. A most enjoyable lunch: food, cooking and service of high quality. No fault to find at all.
Lovely meal at Cafe Rouge Cheltenham. Loved the French Onion soup and Duck and my date really enjoyed her meal too. Good service and at a reasonable price.
