Quite possibly the worse dining experience I've ever had. The menu was very non traditional with items like American Ribs on offer. I sure didn't come to a Italian Cafe for American food. I settled for a serve of bruschetta as nothing else appealed to me. We had a table of 6 and meals were brought out in drips and drabs. The final meal to arrive was my young daughters chicken nuggets and we had to ask where it was. We also had to chase up both kids drinks. My bruschetta was stone cold and very average. Pizza bases were not made in house and were thick and not crunchy. Really how hard is it to make pizza dough. The waitresses were under the pump but were polite and accommodating when question...
What has happened to this place? Once upon a time Cena was a fantastic breakfast spot. Returning to the cafe after a long hiatus (we moved suburb) we were super disappointed. An unacceptable wait time, and other clearly disgruntled customers threatening to leave without their meals. The smashed avo and cena breakfast were both tasteless. I'm 99% sure they forgot to toast the rye bread, and it was a soggy the way through. Poached eggs were hard boiled, and it lacked any real flavour. Not sure how they excelled at ruining quite simple ingredients. At $40+ for breakfast, we both agreed we would have been better off staying at home and cooking our own breakfast. We came here for brunch and I was so disappointed. Although the table service was polite and friendly the Vegetable Omlettes tasted like cardboard. They were dry and over-cooked. Perhaps they'd been re-heated in a microwave. My Latte was cool and mostly froth. I should have guessed when we first arrived at our table. The last customers left most of their Pancake Stack as well as an almost full Cappuccino. It's obviously a popular cafe as all the tables were full by midday. By then the cafe became very noisy and made attempts at a decent conversation pretty much impossible. The final sting was when I paid the bill. Never again.
Found this place by accident. It was very noisy with lots of big tables with small kids. The lady apologised for it which may mean it's not usually like that. The service started off good and then slowed down. My teenagers had bacon and eggs with sides- hash browns "good" and baked beans and very spicy chorizo My friend and I had the Nonnas Eggs ????which was delicious. $97 including iced coffee (in ubiquitous Mason jar), iced chocolate, pot of tea and a latte.
I've been coming to cafe Cena for many years, always likes the place but for the last 3-4 times my friend and I been having breakfast and it's been very ordinary. This morning I've ordered a smashed avacado and my friend had very similar, both with poached eggs only to receive boiled eggs. Showed one of the girls sand asked to be re done, which she was very happy to do, only to receive another boiled egg and one almost boiled. The breakfast was **** and I won't be back.
Caffe Cena is a good place to go for breakfast and/or lunch. The staff are friendly and although a bit busy sometimes service is still good. The meal sizes are decent, perhaps a little bit more expensive then I expected. However the food was nice and came out pretty quickly. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
