Loved this place so much I ate it two nights in a row! Food for me is sometimes much less about ambiance and more about quality and value. Captain Tom's is very small, charming, and lively. ...a true oyster bar. A dozen fresh was just $15.95 and they do have happy hour where they are cheaper. Seating is around the serving area. Small place. People sit elbow to elbow enjoying a great value, seafood meal. Loads of options, really good pricing, and cold beer! This place ranks very high on my list. Such a simple place but great food at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and accommodating too. If its about the food and a good experience, you have to check this basic but fantastic place...
Always on point but today the fries ruined my meal I hate crumbs for fried hard small niblets, ask to exchange it happened but the lady cooking took attitude due to request, she made more and it was the same thing even the server said to her these are not different she said they all small as she glared at me, as I ate my meal I looked at her open a fresh bag and other entrees had the fries that one should be eating. She had this evil eye at me but I won’t let her disrupt my experience the food is great and so is the service! Be back soon lol
This restaurant has the best micheladas in town, they're spicy! Most of the food is fried, so be prepared for that. I recommend going during the week (Mon-Thur) to avoid the weekend crowds and find plenty of seats. My favorite dishes to order are raw oysters, breaded flounder (if it's in season), salt and pepper crawfish tails, gumbo, stuffed crab, breaded shrimp with fries, and catfish fillets with fries. Also, make sure to try the delicious fries!
great service. they do not have to wait much until their order is taken or served. they are very fast compared to other restaurants. when sitting at the bar area service is much better. the oysters are fresh, they are opened shortly before the vaccination. gumbo is also pretty good. the oysters served warm. red sauce cocktail drippy and also warm. messy floors. oysters are kept on ice and brought to customers in order to get fresh. it wasn't. lemons on the counters can be warmed up without ice.
I've coming here for the past 18 years I moved to the Rio Grand Valley 13 years ago and I still go to Katy on a wknd just to go eat there...
The fresh and diverse menu at this restaurant is top-notch, and I have personally been enjoying it for over a decade.
