Always loved the Cardross Inn. But on this occasions the food was OK, nothing special... and unfortunately the service was really quite poor. One of our main courses was missed, which arrived once the rest of us had almost finished but this wasn't communicated till we went up to the bar to ask where it was. No offer of more drinks or desserts and we had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill. Considering it was a Sunday afternoon/early evening and it wasn't busy, I'm surprised by the lack of customer service. The restaurant had a calm atmosphere and the service was prompt. I chose the traditional turkey, which had plenty of meat but could have been served warmer. The roast potatoes and vegetables were reasonably warm. One member of our party ordered the salmon starter, but it was too salty, so they hardly ate any of it. For dessert, I tried a variation of the traditional Christmas pudding. It was enjoyable, but I would have preferred the classic version.
Pre- Christmas lunch did not go as planned! Started off with a drink dropped onto me, the wrong starter brought and the beetroot vegetarian dish poor! We did mention this but still paid full price ! Meals a bit pricey for what you get.... Nice surroundings, good atmosphere and service ok but left disappointed
The atmosphere was quite calm during our visit, which is uncommon for this season. The staff seemed preoccupied with wrapping gifts, which didn’t create the most welcoming environment. Nevertheless, the food was delicious, and we plan to come back.

Had meal in Cardross Inn with family. The food was nice and tasty. Price wise it was average. The only downside to our visit was the service was a bit slow considering it wasn’t too busy and also a bit chilly could do with some more heating on.
The food and drinks were quite good, though a bit pricey. Our server, Naomi, was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She even arranged to have the fireplace lit for us.
Table for 10. Service was excellent. Food was lovely, lots of choices and was served piping hot. Would recommend. Table was booked for 1.15 and was ready for us when we arrived.
