I went today and purchased a jerk chicken dinner and it smelled great. I went home and sat down to eat and found a long piece of hair in my food. I called the establishment and informed them what happened and the owner told me that he didn't know what to do but for me to bring it back. I bought back the meal complete (I hadn't taken a bite) and the man said that he would not do anything about it. He said the hair looked like a white person's hair. The hair was clearly black and long, I am a black man with short hair. I live alone, there is no one around me with long white OR black hair. We arrived at noon to purchase our food and it appeared as though it had been sitting out all night. I ordered the curry chicken with rice, cauliflower, and plantain, while my brother ordered the ruckhem with white rice and mixed vegetables. We also decided to try the mac and cheese and yams on the side. However, the mac and cheese had no cheese and tasted like hamburger helper, while the yams tasted like perfume. There was a lack of seasoning and flavor in the dishes, and the curry chicken was bland and not cooked with any authentic Caribbean spices. The jerk chicken at this restaurant is excellent. The service is great for takeout, and it's a perfect spot for a lunch meal. The price per person is between $10 and $20. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive a perfect rating of 5. I highly recommend trying the jerk chicken and oxtails combo. However, vegetarians may not find many options here as there are not many vegetarian dishes available, although the ones that are available are clearly labeled.
This is a great spot. My only thing is how are y’all going to have Mac n cheese with no taste. The jerk chicken is amazing, wings, fries, portion sizes. But my Mac n cheese(which is my fav) tasted like nothing and the greens were salty, but I could manage the collards. I was def disappointed with the Mac n cheese for real. It was the smoke in the air for me. I smelled it about a mile away. Food was really goodt. The staff along with the owner were so polite answered every question I had. This is NOT authentic Caribbean food. I just left there with an order of curry chicken and rice and peas . Rice looked shelly but was wet and flavorless. Curry has no taste whatsoever. I had to stop and throw it out. Please don't waste your money. Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2
I had a fantastic time talking with Amar at the restaurant. The food and atmosphere were excellent as always. We ordered takeout for lunch and the price per person was around $20-$30. The food, service, and atmosphere all received top ratings of 5.
