The Cariboo Hotel used to have excellent food. Well, it's not like the good old days that's for sure. My entire meal was awful. I ordered chicken souvlaki. The chicken was bone dry, the greek salad had NO dressing, the rice was aking to packaged Uncle Ben's and was mushy besides. the tzatziki tasted nothing like it should, the pita bread was instead garlic toast and came toasted only on one side. What a disapointment. The waitress, while somewhat snippy did take the meal off the bill (not that I ate my meal...I left hungry). On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, my gal and I, both 70+ seniors visited the Cariboo Hotel for a steak dinner each at 15:30, after walking the Riverfront Park Trail along the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers in Quesnel during a warm and sunny day. This was an excellent time to visit this pub since we enjoyed a reasonably quiet atmosphere looking out over Highway 97 to the Fraser River. Our server was a well-mannered young lady who answered all our questions politely and took our order. The Cariboo Steak Dinner was well prepared and quite enjoyable. A local merchant recommended this place to us. Went in with reservations, which you don't need, as the outside clearly conveyed that it was a local establishment, could have been the drive through liquor store adjacent. But we have been in worst places with good food so why not.Typical bar atmosphere but the pub food was great and it was respectfully clean. Plenty of food is served by friendly staff who are run off their feet as it is popular with the locals.For breakfast we arrived as they were opening and the kitchen was not warmed up yet, not by plan just happenstance, and again found the owner and staff friendly and asked that we remain. This is the best hotel and pub in town. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is amazing. The view of the Fraser River from the hotel room is stunning. The hotel is located right by the river. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
When in town for business, I hit up the Cariboo once or twice a week. The burgers here are great and the beer selection good. The service is usually fast and friendly.
The place was hopping on a Saturday night. Great band ( Appaloosa? ). Locals were cool with outsiders, I felt safe and welcome, lots of fun.
Nice bar. The Cariboo burger was awesome and a huge pile of yam fries with delicious chipotle dip. Highly recommended! :)
