I wish we could have 2 reviews - one for the place itself and one for the food.The food was way, way above the class of the place itself. The menu has a bit of everything ranging from fish & chips up to my favourite, Cider Apple Chicken.We waited quite a while to be seated and then my wife and I got planted next to the men's washroom. The service was very slow, probably because there were only two waitresses and one of them was helping behind the bar. However, she was polite and helpful.The place? I must admit, I do not eat at pubs, bars, or grills, I am not a meat eater or alcohol drinker, and due to my experiences in Toronto, Ontario with the pubs, bars, and grills, with the substandard menu and food not to mention the rude and unprofessional staff. We visit a couple times a month. Decided to hit the patio last week on a beautiful evening. My hubby had a philly steak and cheese and lattice fries. I had wings and potato skins. His meal was great. My wings were good as usual. Potato skins were really not very good at all. They honestly seemed old and hard. Like they had been sitting around and reheated. I've never had bad potato skins before but I wouldn't order them again. Sitting outside they had the ball game playing on the tv. Which was fine but music on a patio would have been nice. This pub restaurant has a huge menu, with selection for everyone – pasta, burgers, salads, sandwiches, seafood, wraps, entrees.For starters, we had plain garlic bread, garlic bread with cheese, cheese dip and bruschetta. Bruschetta was tasty, garlic bread should be just a tad bit toastier.For dinner, the table ordered Chicken Fingers and Fries, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Butter Chicken Poutine, Vegetable Panini, Liver and Onions. Tried the fish and chips. Fish undercooked and tasteless. Cajun Sirloin Pasta. Sauce was gritty, sirloin had the distinct taste of liver. Grilled bread had stale taste. Also canned mushrooms? Ick. Service was ok, what struck me as very unsanitary was the wait staff filling single serving cups of mayo, salsa, etc in the area where the staff leave personal items, and they didn't have gloves or hair nets while doing this. HmmmThere is only one Manager that seems to speak to the Customers, the others are stand off, with distinctly poor attitudes They need to stay with their strengths, bar food, such as wings, ribs, fries. These are excellent.
Love this place!! Lots of seating so even though they are always busy, we always get seated. Service is quick for the most part, food is very good. Wings are amazing!! Sante Fe Chicken, wraps and burgers are also very good. Any specials we have tried have always been very good! Staff friendly and welcoming. We are so fortunate to live down the road from this great place!!
We went to Castle John's for lunch. I had a wrap and soup and my mom ordered the same. The meal was quite large and very filling. The soup was really good and very hearty. The fajita wrap was filling but lacked flavour. Over all it was a nice lunch. The staff was great, our waitress was very friendly. I would give this place another try.
Excellent food here, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Outside building has been renovated but inside needs to be fixed up. Sat in a booth and the back was broken on the bench, thought we were going to fall into the booth behind us! I recommend this place for meals or for just gathering with friends for some drinks. We went for Thursday night "Wings" and were not disappointed. Lots of choice including dry rubs. A couple of folks in our group had the lamb chops and said they were excellent!
