We usually LOVE Catherine and Mary’s but this visit wasn’t as great. Our server was lovely and the drinks, apps and pastas were fab. The problem was with our entrees. One guest had the veal and it was so overdone. My hub had the lamb and it was ok. I had the soft shell crab and there was waaaay more breading then crab. The valet took forever to retrieve our vehicle. Everyone was nice and like I said the beginning of the meal was great but between the noise (please figure out how to soften the place, you can’t hear the people at your own table when the place is full) and the entrees, we were disappointed. Went for Sunday brunch before heading to the Orpheum and will definitely come back. The service was exceptional, with almost every employee stopping by our table except for the chef. The restaurant was quite busy, making it difficult to enjoy our meal fully. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Fortunately, we had made reservations as the restaurant filled up quickly. We had a table by the windows, which was great for people-watching. The brunch menu didn't have many breakfast items, and I had to ask about some selections since the names were unfamiliar and the descriptions included ingredients I wasn't familiar with. Sunday brunch before they go to orpheum. will come back. the service was overboard, I think the only worker who did not come to our table was the chief. could hardly eat for all visitors. Eating was excellent and plentiful. great that we had reservations when it was filled quickly. had a table on the windows. super for people. not many breakfast items in the Brunch menu. I had to ask what several of the selections were like the names were obscur and the written descriptions contained objects I had never heard of; I guess I am not a food, my bad.
the food was great until the entree. then it went downhill. service was outstanding, place was very clean. the entrees are over priced, the strip was just ok, like applebees level ok. the desert was dry, and just not very good. the apps, small plates, and pasta where all very good. i would recommend stopping at the pasta and small plates and this would be an excellent choice. Excellent food in an excellent setting! A real oasis from the craziness of downtown Memphis with a relaxing modern vibe. Cocktails are a must-try. I had the Caesar salad and soft shell crab, both were outstanding. Next time, I will try the pasta!
Had an excellent experience at this restaurant! The food and wine were both exceptional. The service was outstanding, although the food did come out a bit quickly. Overall, everything else exceeded expectations!
