We visited La Cave Saint Marc two times (both dinner) during a 3-day stay in Villeneuve-les-Avignon (Oct. 2015). The couple that served us also owns the restaurant - and that shows: She very involved with (mainly local) customers - he very helpful and with good suggestions for wine etc.The food was good all the way - maybe only 4 out of five stars in itself, but I'll ad the 5.th star for the friendly service and atmosphere the host creates. Also there is a very good selection of wine (as one should expect from the name of the restaurant).A nice place to dig in when the mistral blows outside!
We visited this gem of a wine bar recommended by the owner of our B&B. Great atmosphere, menu on a "moving" chalk board, great, interesting food, a big selection of wines and lovely attentive service!!!But when we went to pay, we were told "no credit cards". This was fine because we had the cash, but on telling this to Cyrille, our B&B owner, he was surprised. He always pays by credit card. Hmmmmmm??????
We really loved eating and drinking here. The starters are fantastic (we had squid and mackerel) and the staff recommended excellent local wines. The mains were also delicious with a bit of a twist from traditional French cuisine - spicy dips and rice with steak (huge portions, great quality) and sea bass. Finished off with orange flower creme brulee and a cheese board. Delicious.
Lacking atmosphere, trying to be too rustic. The food was OK(ish) although the steak was very fatty - yes, I know a ribeye has some fat, just not that much!! Both meals were of similar standard and we didn't bother with dessert. Maybe we were just early visitors in the season and they weren't yet organised.

We had dinner our first night out! Great menu, Great service and Great food - variety for everyone Even our hamburger & pomme frites gal! Well priced and very well enjoyed outside dining.
Nice tapas followed by awful marinated meat that could not be eaten by two of our party. Staff were not interested and just removed the plates. Better restaurants elsewhere.
My duck was over cooked, my friends octopus was rubbery and of course the house wine was just ok. It came highly recommended from some Brits but we did not like it at all.
Excellent quality food and value and generous portions and very well priced along with great variety, well worth a visit

Lovely casual restaurant with good wines and great food. Great service and really well priced menu. We will return.
