The decor of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! I found the chicken tikka sandwich to be decent, but the masala fries were delicious. However, I was not a fan of the samosa, as it was filled with cumin seeds. The falooda shake was good, but it could be improved with real falooda toppings. One major issue was the lack of a physical menu. We were told that the only way to view the menu was by scanning a QR code. While this is a nice feature for the digital age, my phone unfortunately died, and I had to wait for my husband to arrive to place my order. This was quite inconvenient. I really think they should have at least one printed menu available.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. I loved the decor, but to be honest, I wouldn’t return for the food. We ordered naan, Lahori chicken karhai, and chicken bihari kebab. Unfortunately, the karhai was overly salty and didn’t taste like a traditional karhai at all. The naan was hard, and some pieces were burnt. As for the chicken bihari kebab, it neither looked nor tasted like what I expected; it was more like simple chicken tikka boti. The only highlight was the mango mojitos, which were excellent. However, at $10 each, they felt quite pricey; I've usually seen them for around $8 at other places.
The chicken tikka was fantastic—full of flavor and quite rich with spices, which I actually enjoyed. The chili chicken wings were incredible, striking a perfect balance between spicy and sweet. However, the chicken lollipops could have been improved with the same sauce that the wings had, as they were a bit dry and lacked flavor. The virgin mojitos were definitely on the sweeter side, reminiscent of soda. As for the mango lassi, it was decent; not amazing, but not terrible either.
Great ambience, great street food like aloo tikki sandwich, chapli kebab sandwich, chicken tikka rolls. Doodh patti was exactly like back home in Lahore. There was only one server, and he was doing a great job serving everyone, personable, making great conversation. As they get busier, will definitely need more servers but a must visit. Beautiful decor. Average food. I expected sandwiches to be in bread and not dry naan. Pineapple margarita is tasty. Falooda milkshake was good too. Murgh cholay was average taste. Drinks and food are over priced. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+
I'm giving a 5-star rating, but I want to note that Chai Baba is temporarily closed on 2/22/22, even though they are still accepting orders through GrubHub.
The website indicated that the restaurant was open, but when I arrived, it was closed. Please update the information so that others don’t waste their time!
