We were very excited for out first visit to Chateau Hanare to celebrate a family birthday. The ambience is really nice, especially like the way the entrance sets a mood. Our booth was nicely located and comfy. Service by secondary wait staff was good. Our waitress, though attentive enough, made us feel rushed from the start. Plus she exhibited an attitude that made one feel the need to walk on eggshells. Rough, forceful, hurried. We, as a group, are very well traveled, nothing about her demeanor felt Japanese, or LA-ease for that matter. Unfortunately person-to-person interactions can set the mood. The presentation of “toasts” was fun with the smokey dome. The caviar toast exquisite. However...
Alright it’s expensive, to be up front. The ambiance is intimate and great, everything clean. The service was great! When we expressed that we didn’t like a dish waitress took it off the check without us having to say anything more (we didn’t really intend for the food to be taken off, but she was glad to accommodate). Now the part where points get docked off.. some of the dishes that came out weren’t all that great. The uni and caviar toast was great! The rice pot great! And best of all the pomegranate sorbet was amazing! Everything else was somewhat bland or just not worth the price. Oh and uni ice cream was off the menu when we went! (Apparently it’s been off for awhile? BEWARE- the aburi...
It was good. Just all the food was ordinary that I can eat the same menu at any mid to high-end Japanese restaurant. I was expecting for wow tasting or presentation for the reputation of Hanare. The parking was so bad that I had to fight for the spot with their kitchen staff because the parking staff didn’t want to take care of my car because it was min. before opening
Beautiful, tucked away restaurant in the heart of WeHo, Ambiance was great and the food too. Portions for some items a bit small for the value, but overall a filling meal. Will go again

The service was impeccable, and the restaurant is beautiful. However almost every dish on the Kaskei tasting menu one was sweet, not to my liking, but that is a personal taste
