I can think of nothing to fault here, hence the rating. The setting, in Ribeauvill s Haute Ville, is beautiful (we eat on the terrasse), the service is both pleasant and efficient, and the food (if our experience is representative) is exceptional. The emphasis is...on the regional classics, with seasonal ingredients and modern presentation. I started with rillettes, served with multigrain bread and a dressed salad on a slate (OK, maybe a bit old hat now in the UK, but refreshingly contemporary in this part of France), followed by a perfectly cooked, tender veal chop served with seasonal local asparagus (the white variety), and then some Munster cheese; whilst my son ate snails, then Baeckeof...
We had had a wonderful choucroute for lunch and were feeling a bit full after the feast so were not looking for much for dinner. We asked for a place with a good tarte flambe and were recommend to go here. Well, it turned out...they had a menu that included this little Alsacian pizza with a main and dessert. We suspect that taking the menu would be overkill, but hey, why not... I had the relatively new french craze over the past few years Le Hamburger, which was great (the pommes frites not so much). The dessert was also good and, yes the flammenkuche (tarte flambe was as goos as advertised. The waitstaff was efficient and pleasant so it made for a lovely evening.
The service was honestly one of the best I have had here in Strasbourg, but that's pretty much the only great thing about this restaurant. The food was rather mediocre, we had fois gras and pumpkin soup (the soup was actually good) for starters, chicken...with white wine and spatzle and tortellini with meet and chestnut as main dishes (they left us really disappointed, apart from the home-made spatzle which was very good) and creme brulee for desert (just average). The aperitif and the wine saved the night, they were very good. To sum up, I would give this restaurant stars if it wasn't for the polite waiters. I don't see myself going back any time soon.
only a little at the end of the main road in ribeauville, is a true tourist road with almost fairy-tale art of houses. the location is in a somewhat calmer opposite that is perfect. evening sun outside on the terrace. it is. a part of a hotel, but we just came to dinner. the staff is friendly, helpful and easily accessible (compared to the average in France). eating is traditional and a bit more interesting menu. I ate a nice starter of cantarelle and foie gras. the other courses were of good standard, local and interesting. I want to go back!

Such a pity this cute little place isn't better run. Food was mediocre at best. My son's fish soup tasted like the water my husbands overcooked steak was boiled in. Some things came out cold some cooked too much. Everything was pricey and they couldn't...wait to get rid of us. Staff got huffy every time they were asked for something, to include the bill. Too many great places to eat to waste your time here.
Updated regional food, enjoyed by us both. We were first brought a small shot glass of cold watermelon type soup, lovely and refreshing! I had the chicken in reisling sauce with spaetzle and enjoyed it, my husband had the backeoffe stew, we split the dessert,...Black Forest New Art', a bit of chocolate cake on bottom, then cherries, ice cream, and whipped cream!
really good food. everything was excellent. I had two dinners here. they delivered every time. nice staff, very serviceminded. hotel room also good standard. jacuzzi and sauna included. this hotel and restaurant were very well visited.
Stopped here in a Sunday at so could help explain the slow service but not excuse it. However, I had the best tart flambé in recent memory here. It's a must if you are in town. Services lowered the rating.

we found this restaurant on travel advisors. it is the tourist trap. stuff is not so friendly, eating without taste. totally overpriced.
good service, sitting outside beautiful in the evening sun. good selection of local dressed and wein. can be recommended.
