So you 've just driven a 6 hour journey after a great sejour in France to catch the ferry to Cork; tempers are frayed, tensions are high, everyone is hangry. The children ask can we eat in a restaurant? . All you want is 'grub and go ', no patience left to negotiate yet another restaurant table, decipher the menu, order in French and hope that everyone enjoys their choices. We trawl through the web, decide on a possible solution, turn a corner off the Ferry Port and quelle surprise , arrive in the most beautiful, chilled out area in Roscoff, the pier. We visited Chez Corinne prior to catching the night ferry to Cork. We were surprised that so many restaurants in the port were closed or empty. It was really busy at 8pm however the lovely waiter found us a table upstairs. The menu is varied. Pizzas are good. We found they put a little too much topping and too many random ingredients on them though lime, scallops, roast pork, tomato, olives, peppers, leeks all on one pizza . Nonetheless they were really nice with a seriously crispy base. House wine was a Corsican wine which was really good. Creme Brûlée and coffee topped off a great last dinner in France. The atmosphere was beautiful, sometimes there is evening music. We sat outside with coloured lights and a lady and gentleman serving who were so lovely. We shared two large pizzas and some lovely chips, then the children had ice-cream (there are many flavours to choose from) and I had creme brulee. Another children's choice is steak-hache frites, with free ice-cream and drink. The pizzas were very thin-crusted and tasty. Inside is a very interesting dining experience too. Don't worry if you don't have the weather to sit outside. This restaurant will not allow you to have only drinks, and booking for a table is essential, because of its popularity.
We ordered takeout a few time in the past and really enjoyed their pizzas. Tonight, for some reason, the lady behind the counter thought I was a foreigner and started talking to me in a very rude and condescending way. I was so shocked by the way she talked to me. She then realized I was a local and apologized. Too late, it placed a really bad taste in my mouth so I gave her the menu back and left. Not only did they lose my business but they also lost the business of my family and friends when I had to explain to them why I went to a different pizza restaurant to order.
