We found the restaurant by chance while out for a drive and stopped in Colombiers to walk along the canal. We were sent in to the restaurant when we needed to use the toilet after some alcohol next door! Not a great start but - - The cleanliness and well-laid tables created a good impression and the view over the harbour on the side of the Canal du Midi made it the sort of place we like to eat. I studied the menu- my French was OK to get the gist, but an English version gave me the full descriptions- it all sounded a bit pretentious. However we booked for the following night. We were not disappointed, certainly the best food I have eaten this year. A large variety of mainly local produce and...

We have been eating here at least 6 times a year and recommending it to all our friends for many years. In March we noticed many little touches were absent, but now there seems to have been a a change in what and how they serve there food. The menu du jour had gone - or had it? Madame said we could have the "suggestion" which was nicely presented, but we were left unsure of what was on offer. The very limited "Carte" was presented on a piece of fold back cardboard which blew away and had to be chased, as did the paper sheet containing the wine list.. Following our main course we waited in vain for service and in the end gave up and left.Sadly, after many years of looking forward to our visit...

6 adults in a barge trip in the Canal du Midi stopped for lunch at this fantastic restaurant on the Canal du Midi at Colombiers. There are harbour facilities on the canal for boaties that include this gem. It never ceases to amaze me that the smallest of villages in France can produce such desirable food. The menu offers set price meals so the food prices should not be a shock to diners. The food and drink prices are a little more than the average cafe, but of course the food quality is as well. Overall the value for money equation is satisfied very well. We also found the service to be very friendly. We engaged with the waitresses and found them willing to assist and advise.

Located in the busy port of Colombiers, the last thing you would expect to see is a fine dining restaurant. But here it is, Chez l'Eclusier is located right between the mooring boats, with outside seating so you can feed the ducks and otters and have fun watching them while they fight for food. Considering the location, the interior decor is surprisingly smart, and the food matches this - the chef's creations were not your typical French bistro food. Prices are a little on the high side, but the ingredients were also top quality. Service was kind, but a little slow when the restaurant was full. Highly recommended if dining out in Colombiers! After reading reviews for this restaurant we were really looking forward to having lunch there. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday so the restaurant was packed. We thought we were fortunate to get one of the last free tables since we had not made reservations. But it took over 30 minutes to get a menu, another 30 to place an order and the food came out so much later. We know that lunch on Sunday is a very leisurely affair but 2.5 hours for two courses is a bit much. If the food or service had been good, we would not have minded. But the food was not very good and service worse. So the 2.5 hours was really too long.

In a well appointed restaurant by The Canal du Midi and the small harbour there. Went in January when few people about but there were a lot of locals in. The food and service very good and the manageress spoke enough English for us all to get by. Nice wine and I particularly enjoyed my Pot au Feu with duck. I should image it gets busy in high season but worth a trip if you are in the Beziers area or boating up the canal. Nice walks along the canal to walk off any excess.

7 adults and 1 child in a boat trip in the Canal du Midi, we also stopped for lunch. The service was above average and willing to work with such a large group with various tastes. I must agree the prices are above average but quality, service, and food pairings were excellent. All 7 of us had menu's we all liked in the end. Only complaint was the loud duck wanting some scraps. I will not forget the Roquefort Vernieres.

A salad is an easy dish to surprise and delight with. You should not be trying to remove the grease from your mouth after eating one. Our experience was truly horrid. The offending salads were taken away when we mentioned how nasty they were. They returned in possibly a worse condition. ' My bill' I cried ' get me out of here!' Out of over 100 restaurant meals this year, this was the worse. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Better than average but I wouldn't go as far as saying very good. The food was good and well presented, good location but more expensive for lunch than other French restaurants. From other reviews I think this may have increased recently. Nice for one visit to sit and watch the boats.
