We don't have a lot of sit down Chinese restaurants in our city that aren't buffet. We decided to try China House on Saturday night of the Family Day long weekend. We were highly amused by the dining room and décor. It seems they have never met a knick knack they didn't like, or keep. Kitsch aside, we were very impressed by the food and service. Some people here have complained that the service was slow - but I don't think they realize that behind every dish is the Chinese owner/chef who cooks to order, from scratch. We had the best won ton soup of our lives, and the combo plates were delicious. At the end of the meal, we felt that we had eaten Chinese made from scratch, at a friend's house...
We ordered fried chicken, fried rice, and wonton soup. The lady told us it was a busy day for them and it would take 30 minutes...we got our food after about an hour. I am ok with waiting but would appreciate an honest time estimation up front so the hour wait was not cool. And when the food finally arrived it was disappointing. The food was only OK.The fried chicken was good, very crunchy. The wonton soup was ok the wontons didn't have that much meat in them but tasted alright. The fried rice had black char bits all over it and didn't look or smell that appetizing. It also did not taste like authentic fried rice. Would NOT go here again.
It’s a super nice restaurant and got some of the best Asian food in town. The restaurant opened for 35 years which made it really trustable. The owners treat their customers with kindness. Really should try their food if you’re in Gravenhurst.
I found the Chinese food excellent. The chicken balls were nice and soft, noodles were flavorful. Great customer service and easy to communicate. This is a wonderful place in Gravenhurst. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
First time customers, everything was delicious, but I have not had chicken fried rice with onions in it. Tasty but too many onions, will ask for without next time. We will be back!
We decided to order in one evening to enjoy drinks and dinner in our room, this food was awesome and was delivered quickly, we were not disappointed, plenty of left overs.
