My wife's family has been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years, and we absolutely love it. It's no-frills, but the portions are generous and you really get your money's worth. Chop Suey Inn is a long-standing favorite in the Birmingham area. I've been a regular for years, and the food has consistently been great. I find myself craving the Mongolian beef! Since my wife doesn't eat Chinese food, whenever she's out of town or dining elsewhere, I make it a point to grab a meal from Chop Suey Inn. I don't pay much attention to the complaints about service or ambiance; Chop Suey Inn is exactly what it is, and I truly hope it never changes—unlike another Chinese restaurant that starts with "Red" and ends with "Pearl."
As usual, I flew into Birmingham, picked up my rental car, and headed straight to Chop Suey Inn. I arrived around 7:55 PM, ordered my meal, and it was absolutely delicious—just as I remembered it from my last visit in August. When I lived in Birmingham, this was my go-to spot for amazing Chinese food! Everything is always fresh and tasty. I especially enjoyed the vegetable lo mein and chicken broccoli. Now that I live in Ohio, I truly cherish the opportunity to return to my favorite dining spots.
We've gone there for years to pick up for a loved one. Each visit seemed to be met with the guy at the counter having a bad day and no patience or customer appreciation. Still we returned because our loved one won't eat anyone else's Shrimp Egg Foo Yung or Shrimp fried rice. This visit was pleasantly different. Saw new faces and experienced better service. Looking forward to our next visit.

The staff at this restaurant are consistently friendly! The menu is straightforward, which makes it easy for me to choose my meal. There’s also ample space inside to relax while waiting for your food. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. However, it's the simplicity and ease of the ordering process that truly enhance my experience here.
Delicious and friendly. I came for a quick bite when I was looking for Chinese. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, so I asked about the Chop Suey Special and the owner told me what was in it and took time with me. It made a world of difference. My food was delicious and I appreciate the time she took. I'm back!
I have several friends and family members who refuse to visit Chop Suey Inn due to your low health department rating, which I've heard is a score of 50. Please take steps to improve your hygiene. Every customer is valuable, and you don't want to lose them.
This place has THE BEST EGG ROLLS IN ALABAMA! Hands down!! Real shredded cabbage is the key. They are super sized,flavorful and flaky. Not like any other. I did a tasting around the Bham area and these are the best!!

Consistently good food. Ran by great people. The Chicken Egg Foo Young is delicious and their egg rolls are the best in Birmingham. I really like the crispy shrimp, but it’s not for everyone.
