This cafe is tucked away at the garden end of the small shopping mall which is dominated mated by IGA.It has a pleasant garden al fresco dining area in addition to indoor.But the service on July 26th at 2pm was disastrous. Dominated by the buxom young woman with the loud voice who calls everyone "Darling" then "Darl", one waits to place an order at the counter while she converses with an equably voluble acquaintance.The polite young man making the coffees minds his own business." It's not easy finding a good brunch on a Sunday or Public Holiday due to Perth's antiquated employment laws. Shop and restaurant owners must pay triple time so you'll find that, unlike Europe, the U.S., Asia, most of the rest Australia, many cafes, restaurants and bars stay firmly closed. The ones that, like Cimbalinos, are open are doing the hard yard serving great food and coffee to an unnecessary number of people for take aways, breakfast, brunch, lunch, you name it so be prepared to wait. Well here is a high end coffee shop apparently and so I tried it on a Sunday morning while roaming around Cottesloe, in a very good mood...Average coffee...not warm and more importantly, not STRONG!Had to wait quite long, so started to read the newspaper...As you do on a Sunday morning. After a while I walked over to the counter and started to read the chalk board menu... Hum hum all OK. till I see my take away order sitting on the counter, waiting for me....Why?? Hey barrista guy and groovy server girl...It was totally empty there, no orders...Can't you tell me its ready when you see I'm just 2 meters away, killing time and waiting for....these coffees. Cimbalinos Cottesloe has been our go to coffee shop for years. Not any more. Service has been slipping for a while but yesterday was just ridiculous. Ordered a latte, a cappuchino and a muffin. The muffin came. Eventually the latte came. We went and inquired about the cappuchino. Finished the muffin. finished the latte. Eventually a cappuchino arrived with a glib and obviously well-used 'sorry for the wait'. Pig's eye they were sorry. They couldn't care less. Today we went down the road to Propellors in North Fremantle. There was a 15 second wait for the third coffee after the first two came. (And yes we did take it up with the management. Went here on Australia Day, wasn't to busy, got a seat quite easily.I ordered the bircher muesli with a watermelon and mint juice and my partner ordered the BBQ Beef Eggs Hollandaise with a caramel milkshake. Our food came relatively quick seeing with was a public holiday, food was presented perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious. Service was great would definitely go here for breakfast again!
Busy on a Sunday morning, but no queue when we arrived at 10am. Order and pay, and service was quicker than anywhere I've been. There is a sense of urgency in turning out the food, which is of a good standard (quality ingredients + quality cooks). Nailed the corner booth, and enjoyed our breakfast. Try the Eggs Benedict. Will be back!
I remember when the line up was out of the door. The coffee and food are still great but somehow the crowd have moved on. Van's on the corner is crazy busy. It might be the service, still perfectly acceptable, it might be fashion. I would recommend some kind of refresh may be in order.
Great little cafe on Napolean St. Outdoor seating, nice open aspect, cute booths inside & great, hot coffee. Found the ambience really relaxed & casual - was perfect for an afternoon stop. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
On weekends you have to line up to order and scramble to find a seat - but it's worth if for the excellent coffee and super tasty breakky's
