I wanted to get this review out there, while still experiencing the impact and memory of such a delightful time spent having breakfast at this restaurant with friends. In the middle of a bustling establishment, we were surprised to even find a table, let alone be treated immediately and graciously by our server who was nothing but sweet, thoughtful, and faster than I could complete a sentence to my friend across from me. I'm an out-of-towner, and can see why this business is jam-packed on a Sunday morning (and probably every morning, for that matter)! I can't wait to come back to Richmond, and make the City Diner a regular tradition of my visits!
I have not been to this place in over 13yrs. Walked in this morning, I noticed there was open seats by the windows the waitress/host advised me that I could not be seated by the windows (wasn’t a full restaurant at the time) I turned around. It was just me. . . One customer and absolutely no real customer service. This is definitely not the City Diner I remember years ago. Disappointed.
Super cute space. Love the open kitchen “behind the bar”. Pancakes were very bland and extra dry. Took 3 bites. Told the staff I didn’t like them, had to pay for them anyways. Don’t use fresh cracked eggs. One lets every thing and filled with very large chunked ingredients. Broccoli was hard as a rock. Unimpressed over all.
Pros: Free parking lot, easy accessibility for wheelchairs, at least a dozen 4-person booths a couple of 2 person tables, food was fabulous-serving breakfast and lunch. They have champagne mimosas and a few other drinkies. Cons: you could sit there for hours chatting and eating. Definitely RECOMMENDING to friends.

Visiting Richmond and came up on City Diner, looked like a place I like. Was not disappointed, the service and the food were good. I will return here on my next visit.
Service was great and place is cute, but hands down the worst omelet I have ever had. It was thin and the ingredients were subpar. Pancakes were dry and bland.
Enjoyed the breakfast club, customer services and seating/parking. I will go again.
Service was good. Food was just ok and seemed too expensive for what it is.
