Having dined regularly at this idyllic beach side eatery in the Daintree rainforest for over thirty years, i stopped on-route to Cape Tribulation today for a light lunch, my choice Fisherman's Soup the menu description of Pernod,Rouille,Croutons Emmental Cheese was just too irresistible and...from the first mouthful to the last it was absolutely delicious, Heading south some hours later i stopped at Thornton"s again for a cucumber infused Hendricks Gin and Tonic and was tempted by their aptly named Argie-Bhaji consisting of Potato Poblano Chill, pan fried and served like two huge onion Bhajis with lime Dukkah with lashings of yogurt to put some chill into the chili. Do not venture past the cape tribulation ferry if you wish for 7/11 donuts and smoggy streets... quite honestly, I wonder what you’re up north for if you wish for a holiday experience like that. To stop at CJ’s is nothing short of idyllic. Toasties...that are a dream to munch, Daintree tea that completes any tea obsessed human, and a view that’s unique to only this part of the world! Amazingly friendly staff, and a backdrop soundtrack of the coral sea, cicadas chirping, birds of every North Queensland variety you can imagine, and a longing hunger for more cape tribulation discoveries! 18/10 would recommend. Ensure this place is on your ‘life’s to do list’

We visited this restaurant over a decade ago and remembered our previous visits fondly, so we were thrilled to return. The setting is picturesque and the food was even better. I had the exquisite tofu in broth and I wish I could go back tomorrow for more. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I am seldom impressed by vegan dishes, but this one really stood out. The children also enjoyed their nuggets and chips. A big thank you to the chef and the attentive staff. It's clear that you all take pride in your work.

I recently revisited this cafe after a few years and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the food and coffee that the new owners have introduced to this wonderful spot. The service was prompt, professional, and friendly. The food was delicious, fresh, and prepared with attention to detail. Their homemade sourdough bread was outstanding, and the coffee was also very good. I highly recommend stopping by for a satisfying lunch during your visit to the Daintree. We stopped for lunch on the way back from Cape Tribulation to Port Douglas. There weren't many places open, so it was a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, plus we had a beautiful view of the beach. It was a nice stop on our journey.

Would you like to stop a casual fish and chip on the beach? stop them on cjs at Thornton’s! we had nice fresh fish and chips cooked and a nice garnish cocktail during the look of the storm roll. great location, friendly service and always with a smile.

Terrific spot, right on the water. They are licenced and do good cafe food. The outside tables are in a fabulous position. They do breakfast and lunch only.

Very enjoyable fish and chips overlooking the beach, very relaxing and worth coming back to. Service was excellent, fish was fresh and very tasty.

Enjoyed a beautiful lunch while watching the kids play on the stunning beach the LAMB SHANKS are a MUST!! Great value for money.
