We were disappointed to learn that Colony does not allow babies after showing up with our in-laws and 15-month-old child. We hadn't checked their website for years and were left scrambling to find another place to dine. We were puzzled as to why Pali Wine down the street allows children but Colony does not. Having to get a babysitter for a meal out is not ideal for us, especially with our limited date nights. We typically opt for venues near the beach or with more family-friendly options. Unfortunately, this means we won't be returning to Colony for quite some time.
The experience at this restaurant started off great, but things took a turn for the worse when it got busy and the servers became scarce. A gnat landed in my date's drink, and it took us 30 minutes to flag down someone for help. After that, the staff completely ignored us and we struggled to order more food. We had high hopes based on the reviews, but having to constantly seek out help was disappointing. It was a bad experience overall, and I hope it was just a one-time occurrence. I would like to give this place another chance in the future.
I recently attended a private event at Colony Wine Merchant and was thoroughly impressed. I was delighted by their collaboration with small, family-owned winemakers and their exceptional knowledge. The wine served was superb, and I wish there was a similar shop in my area. My favorite place to go any day of the week. I discovered Colony a couple weeks back and have been obsessed ever since, becoming a regular. The wines are fabulous, food and cheese selection delicious, and great vibes. The staff is very welcoming and I live that depending on where you sit the atmosphere is accommodating to any date or get together. Big fan and will be coming back again and again. Really wonderful wine and nice server but I felt uncomfortable the entire time, hosted a book club and felt like my two virtual guests were a bother to the owner and staff. We spent good money and kept volume levels respectful. Really was a bummer, I was excited to show my friends the location. I didn't think we were any louder than any other patron. I won't return.
Always a wonderful experience, whether enjoying some delicious wine, scrumptious food, epic music, wine club perks, or one of their special events... I always have a great time! Everyone from the owners and staff are always so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable! So happy I joined their wine club!
