There are so many great good and tasty restaurants in Luberon and in the village of Roussillon that you should AVOID this Comptoir which has nothing artistic in its cuisine. Let's start with the location and decor: centrally located, it claims to have a terrace with a panoramic view. There is indeed a terrace but i am afraid you will see more the cars parked nearby than the iconic panoramic view of the Luberon. The decor is passe, old, worn out with some bad paintings replica or posters hanged on the walls which apparently gives the name to the restaurant. After having had a very pleasant lunch with my wife and some friends, I read some of the terrible reviews of this restaurant and asked myself if I were at the same place. Although we spoke little French and our waiter spoke little English, we had no problem communicating. he recommended a wonderful local rose wine and each of us had a nice lunch on the terrace. the service was friendly and attentive. it seemed like most of the patrons native, so they obviously thought enough of this restaurant to return. we would not hesitate to return if we were ever back in the opposite.
Excellent food, nice ambiance, attentive service. All the things you hope for in a restaurant which this restaurant failed to achieve by a considerable margin. Macaroni cheese is not a local delicacy but is offered with nearly every meal. It tasted as if it was cooked at the beginning of the week, we ate on Sunday. The wine, however was very good but as it was the local wine, 5 miles away, probably just confirms the lack of effort generally rather than an even passing interest in customer satisfaction. Perfunct service bordering on hostile.
If the weather is nice, sit on the terrace if you can. it's delightful. Don't expect a view though, as many of the guidebooks promise, at least not when the trees and vegetation are in full bloom. The terrace is nicely shaded then, but the view is obscured. I didn't find this to be a tourist trap as others apparently did. I was not in a hurry so perhaps that is one difference. You may want to pick someplace else if you are in a hurry.

One of the many restaurants in Roussillon. Heavingly busy, but as we didn't have much time in Roussillon, very frustrating that it took 90 minutes for a two course formule lunch. The waiters here have perfected the Gallic indifference to service more commonly seen in Paris. When the food did eventually arrive, it was no better than ok.Plenty of other places to choose from.
we were with a tour that went to rousillon. after some sights we had only a short time to eat before we join our group. we sat on a beautiful table with a great view. When the waiter came, I asked him if he could be done in 45 minutes. he assured us he could make it. we had very delicious salads. we were also able to join our tour group on time!
Lucky to get into any restaurants late in the lunch sitting, however they managed to find us a table after a 10 minute wait. We had Hamburgers Provence and a Fish dish and a Macaroni dish, all were very nice and reasonably priced. Staff seemed very rushed with constant lunch crowd, and atmosphere reflected this.
Disapointed by Le Comptoire des Arts. It looks good, but then the food is quite basic, no personality. Trying to be regional but I was disappointed. Very standard desserts. Not sure very much is home made. And it was not cheap either. Staff? Hum, no thanks. Only the terrace is nice.

We had a really pleasant lunch on a weekday. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food was very good and the children's meal was generous. Overall we had a great lunch.
