We were excited to visit this restaurant, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The positive aspects included the unique building and the fact that we were seated immediately on a Saturday. However, there were several negatives as well. Our waitress seemed a bit confused about the day of the week, and although she tried, something was clearly lacking. The drinks were just average, and the cinnamon rolls, while rumored to be a bestseller, were nothing special. The wings appeared to be from a small bird and were very small, lacking meat and overcooked. Overall, we were not impressed. I was searching for a special place to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday, and Cork and Gabel did not disappoint. Our group of 12 was impressed by the atmosphere, appetizers, entrees, and overall ambiance. The restaurant manages to deliver high-quality food quickly without compromising on style or flavor. They made his birthday unforgettable, and I am grateful for the amazing experience. Can't wait to return!
I was involved in the opening and operation of this restaurant for over a year. Upon being hired, I noticed that I was the only black woman working as a waitress. Unfortunately, I experienced discrimination and unequal treatment compared to my white and male colleagues, particularly from chef Matthew McGrail and other white male staff in administration. I would not recommend dining at this establishment.
First time here! The best part was the Irish coffee! AWESOME BARTENDER! I would come weekly just for that.. lol the service by Stephanie was good as well (that's why the Fourth STAR), our table love condiments and because they are stingy with EVERYTHING! This is quite possibly THE best eatery in the Detroit area. The food and staff are amazing. The bartenders were very friendly and accommodating, as the the hostess. She was able to seat us earlier than expected and was very pleasant to us and our party. I cannot say enough great things about this place.
The food was wonderful, our waitress, Gabby, was attentive, polite, and recommended the cinnamon rolls, which were FANTASTIC! My moms burger was cooked perfectly and the Irish coffee was smooth and delicious! I live in the area and will definitely be back!
First time... Great place. Bigger than I thought. Easy parking. Food was DELICIOUS! The German Doner (gyero) was fantastic. Lots of non-meat meals too. Good craft cocktail drinks ... Bartender will make what you want. Definitely coming again.
