I have nothing against this place, but nothing has changed since I was a regular here 20 yrs ago. Whilst many other taverns have moved with the times, the Craigie has maintained the original look, furniture and lack of ambience. The staff are wonderful and...work hard. If you're after MASSIVE parmies, greasy burgers and other ordinary food, you'll love it here amongst the wood grain surroundings, high vis clientele and 70s furniture. It seemed some of the customers near us had discovered knives and forks for the first time, and even they were struggling with the size of the meals, taking half eaten parmies home in containers. I cannot agree with the last review as I have not been here for years and found the place totally different. No Salad bar, no Red phone box etc etc.We were greeted by a young lady called Teela who could not have been more helpful...even though she had only been here a couple of weeks. We met the new Manager Wes who again was very helpful and we were served by Brody who again was very helpful, polite etc. Could not have asked for a better experience by these three lovely people. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and our waitress was efficient and friendly. However, I cannot recommend the midday senior meal we ordered. The leek and potato or pumpkin soup we had was decent, but the main dish of chicken with salad and chips was disappointing. The chicken dish consisted of a few pieces of chicken in a watery sauce with overwhelming breadcrumbs, which was not appetizing. The salad was sparse, with mostly spinach leaves, a few cherry tomatoes, and a couple slices of cucumber (missing from my husband's plate). The salad dressing was also unappealing. The bread was good and the chips were fine, but overall, none of us would recommend this dish to others.
Great location but has not had any changes made to the decoration or interior in a very long time. The atmosphere is disappointing, we went on a Friday night and went were the only diners and if the food was anything to go by I...could see why. The portion sizes were decent but the food itself was quite bland and lacked flavour, plus the presentation could use some work as well. Decently priced food but very average. The TAB section of the pub seemed more pumping and the actual bar side of things seemed great. Use to go to the Craigie for 15 years but over the last few years it’s gone extremely down hill so a lot of us have relocated. We decided to give it another chance last Saturday night. To our shock there is no Saturday night...music/karaoke anymore at all. There was an incident where security for some reason restrained a patron. Another patron videoed the situation and once the security guard realised he became aggressive and threatening. Will definitely not be back. Not my idea of a chilled, fun night with friends and family.
After looking at the menu on their website, we decided to stop by for lunch. We ordered drinks at the bar and were served by a friendly and helpful young lady. We chose to sit in the restaurant, but were disappointed to find that the menu was completely different and the dishes we wanted were not available. It turns out that the menu on their website is three years old. It's a shame we left without eating, as the place was clean and tidy with great staff.
Visited Craigie Tavern while visiting from QLD. It was a Tuesday night so it was very quite. The staff were friendly and the service was great! Myself, my husband and mother inlaw were all happy with our meals. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, my...mother in law ordered the garlic prawns I ordered the mushroom sage gnocchi. They were all so delicious and we would definitely recommend to others.
the steak was almost a thinner than a minute steak and had more fat than meat on it. I asked for medium-sized rareness and was made good to a medicine. the sose tasted like gravur with pfeffer in it. the sweet was cooked perfectly, and the chips too. my beer was served in a cracked glass that I immediately returned. the red wine was warm. will go back in a hurry Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We have been regulars at Craigie Tavern for years, enjoying a quiet drink, meal, and bet here. The bar staff is always friendly, the atmosphere inviting, and the meals are large, delicious, and reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with their chicken parmas and chicken carvings, and they have great daily specials.
