Visited here in August for a sort of quiet hen do for family who couldn 't make my actual hen party. Booked via email, also emailed to change the time and rang the day before to confirm numbers so was surprised when we turned up for the staff to be apparently unaware of the booking. Had to wait while a table was set up for us, staff didn 't seem overly bothered that they 'd somehow overlooked our booking. Although the radio advert I listened to said 'book a table as we 're very busy ' the place was dead. No atmosphere what so ever. Food was nice but not worth the price paid in my opinion. Had Sunday lunch here with my son, wife and his children in April. The starters were good, main course was ok, pork and beef were a bit chewy, thankfully , the turkey was fine. Dessert though was odd as the cheesecake tasted warm, just as if it has been microwaved to defrost possibly why we had to wait quite a while for it to be served.
I'm not sure if there is a new chef, but the food at this restaurant has changed a lot. I visited around 2 years ago and it was just okay, but my recent visit was a completely different experience. Everything I tried was delicious and cooked perfectly. The average price of £16 for a main course is also great value.
I had a 3 course meal here last evening (Feb) and every course I could have licked the plate clean. The quality of the food and it's preparation was first class. The seasoning which I find is a must was spot on. When it came prices I have tipped this much. It's a must

I had evening meal on the early bird menu, 3courses for 17.50 and it was very tasty, service was ok even though it was early evening in Christmas week. Breakfast was a superb fresh full breakfast cooked to order and served with a smile. Meek done.
The buffet breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of breakfast options to choose from. The staff was also accommodating and happy to fulfill any custom requests.
Total waste of money, service was just awful the food, not worth waiting for, when we complained was met with a shrug of the shoulders
We ordered the steak and gammon steak, and both were incredibly tender. I definitely suggest trying the Welsh cheesecake for dessert.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a reasonable selection of breakfast foods. They also had made-to-order items available.
