The quality and portion sizes of the food have noticeably declined over the years. Just one or two years ago, when we spent around $85-100 per person for a dinner event, there was an abundance of food—barely any space was left on the table for additional plates. However, during my visit on June 11, 2016, half of our table was empty, and the food was only average at best. The herring tasted like it came straight from supermarket jars, simply garnished with onions and dill. While the other dishes seemed to have been prepared, they were just mediocre. I could easily make better meals at home. It appears the restaurant is closing this month, which might be for the best.
The food is great and the music is enjoyable. However, the service is very disappointing. The waitstaff seem preoccupied and constantly on the move, yet diners are left waiting for assistance. It took multiple attempts just to get someone to take our drink orders, and the same was true for our food and dessert. We ended up waiting an hour to order dessert. Each time we required anything, we found ourselves having to get up and search for a waiter.
I love Crystal for several reasons: the food, the music, and the crowd. It has an upscale vibe, with women often in heels and men dressed in business casual. The music starts off slow and then gradually shifts to lively, dance-worthy tunes. The service has always been prompt and excellent. I think people can be overly judgmental when they visit Russian restaurants, but my experience here has always been positive.
We bought tickets to celebrate New Year 2020 at Crystal restaurant. The venue was stunningly decorated and had a live band, creating a festive atmosphere. However, I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of the food and the music selection over the years. It would be wonderful to include a variety of international music to appeal to a diverse group of guests, instead of just focusing on traditional Russian songs.

I recently attended a beautiful and elaborate Russian wedding at this venue, which is perfect for special occasions. However, I wouldn’t think about dining here regularly. I observed that some guests at the event were quite intoxicated and were permitted to leave in their cars, which was worrisome.
Crystal is the finest Russian restaurant in Boston! The food is top-notch, and the service is exceptional. The staff are always professional and friendly, and the dishes arrive hot and in generous portions, just like homemade meals. Thank you—I truly hope you start opening on Fridays again.
We celebrated my daughter's birthday at Crystal, and I was delighted by both the portion sizes and the quality of the food. My previous experiences a few years ago were not as great. Excellent work, everyone! We had a fantastic time—thank you! The menu was outstanding!
Outstanding restaurant! It's a great place to check out on Fridays, but currently, they only accommodate private events. I reserved it for my major celebrations and even celebrated my parents' anniversary there. I highly recommend it!
