I have never written a review for a restaurant before but todays experience to the cuckoo's next gave me no option. I feel as though i need to warn any others to stay clear..And just to let you know, i am not a fussy restaurant go-er. Upon arriving and sitting down for some drinks on the lounge / bar terrace area, i had to ask 3 separate staff if we could order drinks. this didnt work so i resulted to following the waitress back into the bar and asking her again. She looked straight at me, shrugged and walked right past me. i then went direct to the bar to order. I was then rudely told i couldnt order at the bar and had to order from a waitress. 15 minutes later i succeeded in ordering a rou...
I decided to take my wife for lunch at the Cuckoos Nest as I wanted to enjoy the sunny terrace. I was aware that the restaurant was expensive but expected the experience to be worth it. Upon arrival we were dispatched by the owner to a waitress who led us to our table. We ordered drinks and food but we're disappointed that they would not serve tap water and insisted on selling bottled water only. We felt the staff really didn't wish to be serving us and found it difficult to attract thier attention even though the restaurant was relatively empty. The food was ok but on the pricey side. Dieses Restaurant hat eine wunderschöne Umgebung und könnte großartig sein. Aber es hat das unhöflichste Personal, extrem hohe Preise und sollte am besten gemieden werden. Es gibt so viele bessere Orte zum Mittagessen auf den Pisten von Verbier. Eine Flasche Wasser kostet 10 Franken und natürlich gibt es im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Restaurants kein kostenloses Wasser, vor allem wenn man auch andere Getränke bestellt. Das Fleisch kostet knapp 60 Franken und beinhaltet ein einfaches paniertes Kalbfleisch und Pommes Frites. Desserts sind 15. Verrückt. We went for a late lunch at the Cuckoo's Nest yesterday. Food and service were fine until it came to paying the bill. We were told that the first line on the credit card machine was for tips. I said tips are included in Switzerland, to which the reply was they are not and certainly not in that restaurant.It has been law since the 1970's that service is included in the menu price in Switzerland and there is no obligation to leave any extra. Waiters were extremely helpful and polite and did their best to accomodate us, but after getting two portions of the most expensive meat on the menu, we were extremely disappointed.The meat was hard and chewy, as a result we sent both plates back but ended up paying the full price.Even though we made our comments to the manager he never accepted it, or offered to take the dish back to the kitchen and discuss it with the chef.His response was " we have served it many times and never had problems"I doubt it! Located on top of the mountain, the food and service unfortunately cannot match the fantastic view. The manager´s blood pressure seemed to be going through the roof at the time for our visit and he passes his mood along to his staff - resulting in a very loud and stressful environment.Food is average/bad - I had to send back a Spaghetti Vongole that was overcooked and tasteless - it looked like something that could have been served on IKEAs lunch restaurant. This is the second year we came here but we won´t be coming back.
The food is decent but the service is the worst in Verbier. Be ready to get yelled at by the owner as he gets over stressed. If you can get a waiter to serve you they pretty much throw the food at you. The sad part is this seems to be consistent. I came here several years ago when it was called the Restaurant Olympic and received the same horrible service. New look but same owner equals same terrible service. At 57chf for a steak I'm sure you can find better service and food elsewhere for a better price.
The owner ruined our lunch, probably our day. Never seen such rudeness. Worst service probably of any restaurant I have ever been to or on par.And the food wasn't much better. My fussili pasta was more like an oil soup and was inedible. The owner then shouted that this is how pasta should be served.I ended up eating a mixed salad and chips and was too nervous to ask the waiter for ketchup for fear of getting shouted at again! Wir hatten hier mit 12 Personen ein Geburtstagsessen und hatten eine tolle Zeit. Das Personal ging sehr gut auf die unterschiedlichen Wünsche der Gäste am Tisch ein und Speisen und Getränke kamen ohne Verzögerung an. Alle hatten viel Spaß und die Geburtstagstorte hat uns sehr gefreut! Gute Atmosphäre und hochwertiges Essen und Service.
