This is a somewhat industrial dining space, with partially tiled, otherwise bare walls, a bare floor, and quite austere furnishings. There is an open kitchen, and a large private function room at the back. Perhaps the lower prices at lunch on Sunday translate to a more compressed dining space; we were almost sitting at two other adjacent tables, and there was a constant squeeze of people passing the table to use the washrooms at the back. Normal speech was difficult, as the noise level was considerable. Our table for 8 people was on the small side, and meant that there was little to no room for new dishes until the old had been cleared away. This resulted in wait staff having to continually...
My partner and I ate her on a Saturday night. I book months in advance from New Zealand - (thank goodness) , which secured us the best seat in the house I would say. The welcome was warm and efficient. The service was a little dry yet knowledgeable and at time overly efficient. We had a pre dinner drink and had to ask for the wine list. By the time the mains arrived we were half way through the meal when the wine was poured. The pacing of the courses was disappointing, and I'm sure we were the last sitting of the evening. The food was divine well presented and and perfectly executed. Watching the chef's work was a dream. Im glad I we had the experience but I would not hurry to return because...
The restaurant is split in three sections the entry section, which also has bar seating, the first dining room and the second dining room. At first we were seated under a loudspeaker in the first dining room, but our waiter Phil (a very accomplished...professional! kindly took us to the second dining room where the DJ music was more bearable. He handed us over to McKenzie who was very attentive and did her best to make us comfortable. When it came time for dessert, she even found a special for me, a delicious fruit salad, which was not on the menu, because as much as I liked the look of my husband 's dessert, creamy sweets unfortunately do not agree with me. We celebrated our anniversary here this year, and had a great night. The service is excellent, and the menu was not extensive however had great options. The degustation menu was appealing along with the matching wines however I was not drinking much that night so we ended up going with the a la carte option. All of the food was excellent. and the desserts amazing. We visited many years back, when the food looked more like a chemistry experiment, thankfully now the food is very refined, true five star dining, and the transformed space adds to the great experience. We look forward to going back for the degustation experience.

We sat a one of the bar tables, (you can't reserve them so it's first in first served). From the moment we walked in the service was excellent. At the bar tables you have the option of choosing from the bar menu (lot of plates to share) or the main restaurant menu. We had a mix of both and it was all delicious. One of us was gluten free and the restaurant had no problems accomodating this. Such an excellent place!
One of Melbourne's best restaurants and with its recent refurbishments it has only got better.The staff could not have been more helpful, and the sommelier provided us with a new favorite suggesting a Nick O'Leary wine from the Canberra region as a perfect choice. The entire experience and all meals were memorable but we all rated the Chocolate Delice as '...the best dessert we had ever tasted.' Pure magic!
that is a really excellent place. of the minute they are greeted at the door is the second to none. our table service was provided by hanna, whose quiet demeanor complicated their excellent in customer care. not intrusive, but always there when we wanted. something eating is very good, although we have the full a la carte menu that we experienced pre covid. the less we had an excellent night.
A year has passed and two more degustation menus at either end of the east coast of Australia haven't erased the memories of Cutler and Co. The heightened awareness of how to stimulate the palate, the surprising visuals and genuine enthusiasm of the staff hasn't been surpassed.

I'm not sure how they always get it so right in this place? Perfection can't be possible so I'll keep coming back just to see these guys slip up one night ... I'm still waiting.
