Darbar is a sub-level restaurant space, contributing heavily to its dark, underground vibe. There's several defined dining areas great for visiting in groups. Darbar's menu is relatively extensive so sports a good range of options beyond your local takeaway. Darbar's rendition of Papri Chaat - the Darbar Chaat ($13) presents like a a pretty, patterned soup, and rather than large crisps, these are actually buried below the yoghurt and tamarind mix, not unlike a savoury cereal. We normally go to this restaurant and received a text that there was a special and all main dishes were half price . When we arrived we were told that certain dishes were not half price and when we wanted to take some of the left over food we were told that since the dishes were half priced the take away containers will be $5 each - this plastic container would have cost them $0.20 cents. What a rort - the advert should include that there are conditions and they have totally lost my business of spending usually $100-$200 each time we visit. Bad customer service and marketing on management .
I have previously visited the restaurant and had a Lamb Biryani which was quiet good. Expecting the same i ordered a Lamb Biryani Takeaway but all I got was some lamb curry mixed with flavoured spicy rice. Would have held them in High regard if they said it was not Available. But they probably didn't want to lose the business , well incorrect choice as not going to visit the place again along with my friends.
Darbar is hands down the best Indian restaurant in Sydney, don't let anybody tell you otherwise. We came to that conclusion after trying all the other highly rated Indian restaurants in the city. In fact, we have been to Indian restaurants around the world and none of them have matched Darbar's food, value for money and service. It should be much higher on the list of Sydney's best Indian restaurants!

Visited this restaurant over the weekend, an extremely busy venue. The service very friendly & prompt. The food was nice, not outstanding. We had a banquet, far too much food. My only suggestion is to make sure you check the bill, it turned out we were charged corkage for each person when only one couple byo & the rest of bought wine from the wine list.
Ended up for lunch here.. The place looks like a dungeon type.. but has good seating inside.. the bar is small and inviting.. The food is very tasteless.. It was very sweet!! Imagine expecting something spicy and it turns out flat sweet.. not happening!! The service staff is courteous and ever smiling...
I come here often, by myself after work or with friends and I've never been disappointed. The quality and the freshness of the food is just amazing, the service is always great (Angie, the manager, is just a lovely person!). I'll keep coming back, definetely!
Performing an evaluation solely based on the food, Darbar Fine Indian Cuisine served me one of the top five Indian restaurant meals I've had in Sydney. The dishes were outstanding in quality and taste.

I recently visited Darbar to celebrate a friend's birthday, and I was impressed by the spacious layout and stylish decor of the restaurant.
This restaurant is amazing! I have never had such delicious Southern Indian food in the Sydney area.
