I've visited this place since it opened for coffee and cake and took many friends there as it's a relaxing place to have a nice coffee and chat and it's open in the evening. However it seems like it's turned more into a community centre, on our last visit it was overly decorated and they were lots of kids playing inside so we didn't stay. I guess they need business and this may be a better way of them staying busy but it's no longer my cup of tea for a nice coffee. That said the staff still tried to make us welcome. We went for ice cream but they are no longer on display so they tell you what they have, again not ideal
Today, my family of six visited De-Melo. I had previously spoken to the owner, Nadia, to inform her that we were celebrating a small family event. She went above and beyond by purchasing decorations and balloons at cost price, and setting up a beautifully decorated table for us. The food and service were both outstanding, and I highly recommend visiting De-Melo. Thank you, Nadia, for your amazing attention to detail.
I’m a regular customer here De Melo. I can say whole heartly this is best go to place for a Coffee sandwhich and Cake in Middlesbrough, it has friendly vibe and customer service is excellent. Also this place is spotlessly clean. great for taking pictures parking is also available outside.
De Melo is the best cafe in Middlesbrough with excellent food good atmosphere and most of all very friendly staff including the owners a place to be at for wen u want to catch up with ur friends and family over a cup of latte pink chai cakes pastries paratahs ice cream etc etc

We decided to visit this restaurant to support local businesses by trying their coffee and cake. However, we found the price of £13.50 for a coffee and a small slice of chocolate cake to be quite expensive. We will be skipping this place in the future.
Situated part way up linthorpe road and more of a coffee and cake place than a cafe. Do lovely range of cakes and cheesecakes, they also do ice cream. Also serve a nice blend of coffee. Coffee and cake about £5, friendly service.
Love this place it's nice and relaxed and they do very nice cake. They always have selection of freshly baked cakes, they also do ice cream and cheesecake, all nicely presented.
Better furniture could have been used, they also need to improve their decoration limited variety of cakes and desserts. But it is a good point that are open till 10 p.m.

Excellent desserts and free delivery on ubereats. Great Price and service. Have tried a number of desserts and all were great. no complaints at all.
The coffee and cakes at this city center spot are fantastic, with a very friendly atmosphere and service. I highly recommend it!
