I've been here four times recently, each time with different friends. The food is really outstanding and everything we've had has been something I would happily reorder. If you're a thin crust (think NY style) pizza lover this might not be for you, because this is a thicker, chewier crust. Still delicious and has the brick oven flavor. The pastas are amazing, and we've had several. The Branzino was delicious and perfectly prepared, and you cannot miss out on the flaming cheese appetizer! Delia's is in an unlikely spot a pad site in a neighborhood shopping center but, as soon as you step inside, you realize you're in a locally owned restaurant, not a chain. The decor is chic Mediterranean, with comfy tables and booths and seating that spills outside onto a patio. The food is reliably good (well, the pizza is a little bland) we particularly like the halloumi flambe. But the service is hit or miss. We've dined here about half a dozen times. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for a Valentine's dinner and the food was excellent overall, but our service was terrible. The waiter, a young Ethiopian woman, seemed to not know how to do her job properly. She was unfriendly and did not seem interested in being there. I did not see her smile once. Although I understand that the job can be tough and she may have been having a bad day, it is important not to ruin others' evenings, especially on such a special day. Food was very good, and reasonably priced, but the service was very slow and at times the server was unpleasant. They ended up comping a few items for the delay (45 mins to get a bowl of soup as a starter! . There were a couple of other issues, including...rats! One camped out near our table outside. The management blamed the landlord for not taking care of the issue, which apparently is not new. But rather than remove it, he draped a dinner napkin over the rat, which still made me a little queasy. Then there was broken glass near our outside table from cracked light bulbs. Delia's has become a go-to restaurant for us. There's variety on the menu and the food and service are consistent and good. Everyone we've taken here has really liked it. My favorites are the Riviera salad and pizza knuckles, but everything I've had here I enjoyed. It's great for a casual meal at the bar or a nice dinner with friends.
I have eaten at this restaurant three times. Each time, my companion and I were bothered by the smell coming from the open kitchen. I'm not sure if it's from the grill or the pizza oven, but it seems like there is a lack of proper ventilation. We were relieved to finally breathe fresh air once we left. We will not be returning.
Delicious Greek-style lasagna, excellent soup and salad. Very good service. Can't think of one negative thing. One more positive.....right around the corner from the incredible Avant Bard Theatre, which has a great production of A Misanthrope going.
