I was skeptical about Korean desserts, but this place will change the mind of all skepticals people! First, their korean pastry chef is really good and makes great cakes and not only korean cakes but also north american' ones. The matcha cake is well balanced,...the sweet potatoe cake is creamy and sweet like a cloud, the mango cheesecake is not too sweet and just enough tart to wake up your taste buds, the oreo bomb is chocolaty and creamy like expected, the red bean paste doughnut is not greasy and excellent! And what about the Bingsoo?! This Korean Ice cream is so light that you don't even feel guilty to have this huge bowl of it! If you never had one, it's worth the try! It is shaved ice...
my daughter was so excited to share momo with her family. we stopped by a cool morning when the load was not particularly busy. After I had baled the bowls around us, I ordered a big tax tip of $11.999 $15 for my family. the man at the bar looked upset and pointed out to me that this did not fulfill the minimum order for 4 persons. a bit confusing, I explained apologise that this was my first time in Momo and that I was not familiar with the menu or the rules that my family wanted to try that dessert and I was happy to fulfill with its lead. he didn't ask if we wanted to stay a long time, and then said my order was ok if we stayed a short time. his ton was not inviting at all for a new custo...
At first, it was a bit hard to find the location since the sign of the cafe is not easily spotted, it was a dark brown color sign as far as I remember. The ambience, however, is cozy, bright and friendly, suitable for a weekend...afternoon. The staff was also nice and helpful. I tried matcha bingsoo and it was very much like the taste of matcha that I had in Asian, it's not too sweet, it's just right for the crave of sweetness. I like this place since it's hard for me to find a dessert cafe that has the exact flavour of matcha ever since I'm abroad. I must say it is definitely an authentic place for matcha lovers. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to my friends.
I went to st. patricks day to dessert cafe momo to enjoy the bingsoo despite the cold. it was soou beautiful. the dessert consisted of condensed, shaded ice, which was light as snow. the matcha added the perfect amount of bitterness and the...rice balls were a little sweet as chewing marshmallows. it beats the shaved ice desserts in ottawa hands down. probably because the ice is aromatized and the amount of matcha (which is layered in the dessert) in each bite, it beats out some of the shaved ices that I had in japan (the used matcha sirup and had stains of unfavorable ices) the owners seem nice. this is a very small facility, in a street that have so many caffes. what is made of the other places to stand (there is a davidstea and dieucks over the street) is the house made tasty, bingsoo and makkarons. the aromen. for the macarons change daily. the owner is proud of his work. we had the macarons, matcha cake, tee and bingsoo. the shaved ice dessert was lovely. the macarons were special. this is a beautiful little place to enjoy sweetness and tee (or coffee) in peace. there are limited seats. not sure if that is good. the owner was very nice to us during our visit. If we approach, I'd order my cake from here.
The BINSOO, shed ice, is a must try. A bit expensive though!! MOCHA with the sweet rice cube is my favarite. Remember to ask to add redbeans paste on top! IT IS A MUST. Picture shown here had not cause the people did not want...to try, Trist!.
the cafe momo offers a variety of choices in delicious ice creams, besides coffee and pastries. we chose a shaved egg with red bean paste and Matcha aroma that we enjoyed immensely.
