My wife and i went to Django a few years ago and it was excellent. We rarely get to get to Des Moines so when the opportunity arose we decided to go there again. our waitress was excellent and we ordered drinks, the old fashioned was good not great, the pina colada similar with high abv was good. We ordered the calamari, the coating was light and the appetizer was very good. This is where the meal fell apart. My wife ordered the fillet and i ordered the duck. The duck was good . the fillet and the potatoes were cold. It seemed to me that her steak was on the pass too long. Its a shame that the meals weren't coordinated like they should have been. My burgundy sauce was almost like a hardening Carmel, really tacky. Not sure if that’s right. I was not super impressed by that. I was impressed with the unique items that aren’t usually around Des Moines, like escargot and oysters. The atmosphere is like copper cop and Edison light bulb. My service was rude to us for not eating quick enough and splitting a reservations/party’s bill, but would you really expect different from 17 young adults? I would eat here again anyhow.
Django is perfect for anyone visiting Des Moines. The ambiance is great, especially since it's right across from the sculpture garden and the menu has something for everyone: excellent steaks, seafood, poutine, even burgers and salads. You can't go wrong with the beef tartare, mussels and lamb papparedelle. Love their au poive sauce on a filet too. We visit many times a year. They also have nice mocktails for the non-drinkers.
Came here to celebrate with a party of 11. Kirsten, our server, was incredibly professional and handled a difficult order (lots of drinks, apps, dessert, and split check). Everyone was satisfied to quite impressed with their meal, no one was disappointed. The ambiance was pleasant, and it's definitely a place I think you can dress up or down depending on the occasion. I'm bummed I hadn't been here before!
Oh boy, this was insanely great food and trust me, you need to try it!! Higher end atmosphere but don't let that scare you away, plenty of people in shorts and t-shirts so whatever your mood, this place will work for you. Diverse menu with something for any palate. We shared the brussel sprouts and if you eat nothing else here, get these...WOW!!! give these guys a shot right now!
This place is becoming one of my favs DT recently, being here twice in 2 weeks. The oysters (raw or Rockefeller) are fresh and phenomenal. The meat/cheese boards are excellently pair with top shelf wine. Any cut of meat you order will not disappoint. Look forward to coming back here soon.
Reviews sounded great so I gave it a try and boy was I glad I came in. Great Bourbon selection including Weller’s!! Beef tartare with fresh bread was a great starter. Went with pork Chop and it was very delicious. Great choice and very to close to my hotel. Super cool place to eat!!
Our go-to place for all things downtown. Lovely first floor tables where you actually hear yourselves talk. Great drinks, terrific salads, seafood and hangar steaks. And a nice patio when the temperature cooperates!
Good place, server ok. Poo pooed certain dishes but pushed expensive wines hard. Scallops and Salmon recommended and good but nothing super special. Cocktails decent. Pretty pricey, had better food for less.
