Not the best of the experiences. I’ve visited other dosa huts that are spread across Melbourne over the last few years but I was in for a disappointment on this visit. We had ordered Chilly Chicken and Seekh Kebab for the appetisers and both were not up to the mark. We’ve had chilly chicken from this place before and it was really good. Sadly, the same cannot be said this time. Was oily and some pieces felt really dry. The kebab was dry, felt almost as if the kebabs were kept prepared in advance or were frozen, microwaved or reheated a number of times. We did take away from here during the lockdown. Enjoyed the podi uttapam and ghee podi idly. I usually like the pavbhaji here, but it’s not always consistent. The portions for takeaway are lesser than when you dine there. So that was disappointing to see. A HUGE put off was the ultra plastic packaging. consider better packaging methods that are environmentally friendly. An unforgivable amount of cling wrap is used for every plastic container. All of that comes in a plastic bag that says “reusable”. So dumb! Paper bags can be easy alternatives. Never going to order takeaway from here because of its packaging.
the first time to eat here and happy to say it was a pleasant experience. the portions here are huge so that they get a good value for money here. I have the chief special 70mm dosa and this is a deer, head and dessert packed in one. it is worth trying to get 4 different fillings, unfortunately I was not able to finish despite a brave effort. the Tandoori chicken was rather dry and slandered; a disappointment. also the toilets could be better maintained.
This review is from someone who doesn't have much experience with authentic Indian food, but found this place to be really good. They fell in love with the Indian cuisine at this restaurant. The butter chicken was great, the dosa was crispy, they enjoyed some lamb dish, and their favorite was the butterscotch ice cream. They found it a bit powdery, but still enjoyed it. After a lengthy discussion with my friends, they recommended that we visit Dosa Hut in Clayton. We ended up spending around $160, but the customer service was subpar. Our food took over an hour to arrive, and when it did, the server claimed it had been delivered to another table. She didn't even apologize for the mistake. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our experience.
Please have a curtesy to not to charge for the wrong food. Had biryani which just ruined our dinner. There was hell lot of dried spice. It literally burnt out mouth. Please know that we are heavy spice eater and have eaten biryani for whole life. Disappointed otherwise we have always loved your food .
I absolutely love this place! They serve authentic dosas, and they even have an extra-large "big" 70 cm masala dosa. The spicy chicken briyani 65 is a must-try dish.
