We arrived at to be told that there was no more fresh lobster not what you expect for a restaurant attached to its own lobster pound and advertises lobster (in writing and in pictures) as a. major promotion! Apparently, as the season will...be over in October, there will few to no lobster available from now on!! We opted to stay (first mistake) and have the lobster Kaiser (second mistake) the consistency of the pieces of lobster could only be described as tough rubber! The third mistake of the evening was to have dessert listed as partridge berry cake with vanilla sauce; not sure what it was but it was just as awful as the rest of the meal. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful but don'...
One of the highlights of my trip home this year. Such an awesome place with amazing food and wonderful people who make you feel roght at home. I was SO happy to enjoy a Newfoundland lobster in July and iit was cooked the right way...too! It was heavenly. I will never forget sitting on your terrace surrounded by fellow Newfoundlanders, the water and beautiful scenery of our province. It was my first time, but I promise you it will not be my last. Please don't change a thing. Thank you!!
We went in for dinner a few nights ago. Glad we got in early because as we left there were diners waiting for a table. Eileen our server was most gracious as were all the other staff. days later we went back for...another “feed of lobster”. Our server “Audrey” was as gracious and caring as Eileen. Great spot. Highly recommended. Thx to all the staff who help make this a fine place to eat. The fish chowder was “the best ever”. Fish cakes and squid rings, were spot on delicious too.
Really enjoyed our meal but felt rushed. We were still eating our appetizer when our main meal was brought out. You could tell the waitress was trying to rush us out. We wouldn’t have minded but it wasn’t busy when we were there. The deck...was full but only two tables inside was taken. There was no line up when we left. Staff was very friendly but really trying to rush us through our meal. Ruined the atmosphere of the place.
We enjoyed a fantastic meal with excellent service during Saturday’s heat. Eileen greeted every table and our server Jan ensured everything was served in a timely fashion. The best fish and chips! The restaurant was very busy and the staff were rushing about with smiles...and never too busy to bring whatever was needed, be it another drink, jug of water or a condiment. The sun was hot but the dock with a breeze was fabulous!
Had a fabulous meal at this little unexpected gem! The place is unassuming, but located in a gorgeous location with stunning views. The servers were super friendly and efficient. I had the snow crab, which was to die for! Absolutely fabulous. My other dining companions...had fish and chips, and seafood pasta. Both raved about their meals. This will go down as one of my most memorable dining experiences in NL.
This place is great. We enjoyed dockside dining outside and watched boats coming in. The view is lovely. Nice sunsets. The food is outstanding. We enjoyed seafood pasta with generous amounts of lobster and a lobster dinner. The service was efficient and quick given how...busy it was. Liked it so much we came back for lunch.
We were recommended to go to Sansomes by a local who actually ended up having dinner there too!! Audrey was our waitress and she was funny, kind and took great care of us!! They have excellent gluten free seafood chowder and seafood pasta.. we even...went back the next day for gluten free calamari and crab kaisers.
The only disappointment here is when there are no lobster. My lobster was cooked to perfection. Eating outside on the pier is always a treat. I make a point of visiting on any trip to the area. Here on Sept Closing on weekend for...the season, will be back next year.
